Peter Pan is a famous children’s story. English writer J. M. Barrie (1860-1937) wrote it. All children grow up, except (除了) one—Peter Pan. Peter Pan loses (丢失) his shadow (影子). When he is looking for his shadow, he flies into Wendy’s room. Wendy later becomes his best friend. The following story tells how these two meet each other. Let’s read together.

Peter is annoyed (烦恼) with his shadow. He tries to stick (粘) his shadow to his body again but he can’t. He tries soap (肥皂) but it doesn’t work. Peter sits on the floor and begins to cry.

The sound of his crying wakes Wendy up. “Boy,” she says, “Why are you crying? And what are you doing in my room? And who are you? And…”

“I’m Peter Pan. I’m crying because I can’t stick my shadow to me.” Then Wendy sees the shadow on the floor. “I can sew (缝) it on,” she says. She finds a needle and thread (针线) and she sews the shadow on Peter’s foot.

Daisy said，"So this is the end of your journey. "

"No. When you've finished with me, I'll go to a sewage plant(污水处理厂). Then they'll pour me into the river and I'll be back in the sea again. "

"Again?"

"Yes. That' s where I came from in the first place. Remember not to waste me or make me dangerously dirty. I' m precious(珍贵)like gold. See you. "
