阅读短文,根据短文内容从下面的六个选项中选择五个还原到文中,使短文内容完整、意思连贯。

Electric cars may seem like a recent invention, but they have been around for years.     11     At that time, gasoline was expensive compared with other fuels (燃料), so electric cars were more popular.

When gasoline prices dropped and new technologies on gasoline cars were developed, electric cars were out of date.     12     During the 20th century, gasoline cars got bigger, heavier and faster. They needed more fuel, and it caused more air pollution. For years, the car makers didn’t worry about pollution.     13     But when people began to realize that there was not enough oil on the earth, they asked car makers to produce more efficient (高效能的) and less polluting cars.

One method of solving the problem was a “hybrid” car (混合动力车).     14     Hybrid cars became popular in the 2000s because gasoline prices went up while prices of hybrid cars went down.

An all-electric car uses no gasoline. The problem, however, is that car batteries (电池) need to be recharged (再充电).     15     Many people are not pleased with it. The government and car makers are working together to develop safe, cheap and useful electric cars. When more and more people have these electric cars in the future, a gasoline station may disappear.

A.That makes electric cars not so suitable for long journeys.
B.Gasoline cars became more popular instead, because they could go farther without stopping.
C.It is a kind of car that ran partly on gasoline and partly on electricity.
D.In the early 1900s, there were more electric cars on the road than gasoline (汽油) cars.
E.They didn’t worry about how much gasoline cars used, either.
F.The development of electric cars is amazing.

阅读下列短文,并根据短文内容回答问题。

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an important part of Chinese culture. It has made great contributions to the development of China. The most commonly used are Chinese herbal medicine (草药) and acupuncture. Here is an e-mail from John to his sister which tells about acupuncture (针灸).

Dear Sis,

How are things back home? Everything’s going great here!

Today, I had acupuncture for the first time! I woke up this morning with a bad backache, so I called the hotel reception desk and asked if they knew of any nearby hospitals. They gave me a list of some places I could go to, and it included an acupuncture clinic (诊所) that was right next door, so I decided to have a try.

I was surprised when the clinic staff started putting in needles (针), because I hardly felt anything at first. I thought it would hurt, but in fact I didn’t even know that I had any needles sticking in me. Then I started feeling a warm sensation in my lower back, and I became very relaxed.

I think it must have helped, because my back stopped hurting. Afterwards, I went to a shop next door that sells Chinese herbal medicines. I was amazed because there were huge glass jars full of all kinds of roots, leaves, and plants, and all sorts of things I cannot even describe. Then behind the counters was a large cupboard going all the way up to the ceiling (天花板), full of wooden drawers containing different kinds of ingredients. I didn’t know what to buy, so I ended up buying two boxes of dried ginseng (人参) — one for me, and one as a gift for you. I’ll give it to you when I get back.

Love,

John

Have you ever heard Gaoshan Liushui, a Chinese traditional piece of music? Do you know why Gaoshan Liushui is often played on many occasions (场合)? It has something to do with “zhiyin” culture, which values close friendship. Do you know the story behind it? It’s the story of Yu Boya and Zhong Ziqi in the Warring States Period.   Boya was good at playing the guqin. One day, he was playing music on his way home on the boat. To Boya’s surprise, Ziqi, a woodcutter (樵夫) who happened to pass by, could understand exactly what he wanted to express through his music. After a long talk, they became good friends. Since Boya had to return to his state, they agreed to meet again in the following year.

Unluckily, when getting back to visit Ziqi, Boya heard that his friend had died from an illness. Boya was so sad. In front of Ziqi’s tomb (墓), he played again the music he had played when they first met. The feeling of the music was so strong that it was as if the rivers and the mountains were crying. When finishing playing, Boya broke his guqin into pieces. From then on, Boya never played again. But the famous music piece Gaoshan Liushui he played for his friend has been passed down.

Zhiyin culture has new development in the new period. The famous ancient Chinese classical music piece Gaoshan Liushui was performed during French PM Macron’s visit to China in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province on April 7th, 2023.

The new and publicly-available ChatGPT is a type of AI that has been “trained” by looking at over 8 million web pages. When asked a question, ChatGPT uses this training to produce detailed answers that often seem like they were written by a human. You can ask it anything and it will give you answers to not only follow-up questions but also professional questions (although it does sometimes make mistakes). You can also ask it to write text, such as short stories or essays. The technology is so promising (有前途的) that some people believe it will overtake (超过) Google in the near future.

For many years it has been expected that AI will become an important part of our lives, and for just as long there have been concerns (忧虑) of the trouble that AI could cause. In the 20th century, scientists, philosophers and writers sometimes worried that AI would become too powerful. In the short story I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, a giant supercomputer has killed every human on earth except five people it keeps to torture (折磨). And in the 1984 film The Terminator, a powerful AI called Skynet uses time travel to send a robot into the past to try and kill the mother of a brave and strong fighter. On the other hand, some people were optimistic of advanced technologies’ potential (潜力) to build a better world. In the 1960s TV show Lost in Space, a family of humans were helped by a friendly robot named Robby.

Nowadays, there is less concern of an all-powerful AI trying to destroy the world, and we are not expecting friendly robots just yet. That doesn’t mean there is not a lot of excitement and concern being felt towards new technologies like AI, though. ChatGPT is a great example of a modern technology that is causing mixed feelings.

It’s too soon to say what kind of influence ChatGPT will have on our lives. Let’s hope that, if ChatGPT does become bigger and more popular, its effects are mostly positive. So, what do you think? Will ChatGPT be good, bad, or somewhere in between for humankind?

31. Why can ChatGPT produce detailed answers like they are from a human ?
A.Scientists teach ChatGPT to talk like a human.
B.ChatGPT depends on Google’s basic information.
C.ChatGPT has looked at over 8 million web pages.
32. Which of them has positive ideas towards AI?
A.I Have No Mouth, and I Must ScreamB.The TerminatorC.Lost in Space
33. What does the underlined word “optimistic” mean in Chinese?
A.乐观的B.好奇的C.先进的
34. Which is NOT true about ChatGPT according to the text?
A.ChatGPT can take the place of humans.
B.ChatGPT can solve math problems.
C.ChatGPT can communicate with people.
35. What opinion does the writer agree with?
A.ChatGPT brings people a mixture of joy and worries.
B.ChatGPT is a perfect AI technology with no doubt.
C.People become more worried about AI at present.
