It’s often said that children are the apple of their parents’ eyes. As a son or daughter, you may also want to make your parents proud. Here are certain things you can do.
Talk to them as often as you canEvery parent wants their children to trust them enough to talk to them when they are happy and when they are feeling low. Therefore, don’t be afraid to call your parents when you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders, just as the same way you would call them when happy. Share your achievements, both big and small. Your parents are your biggest cheerleaders.
Have patience with themOne of the best things you can do for your parents is to be patient with them, which makes them feel loved and appreciated. As they grow older, you need to understand that they become slower or may do things differently from the way they used to. Therefore be patient with them.
Be ready to help at homeIf you live at home, you can be a good son or daughter by helping around with house chores. Start by making sure that your parents don’t have to clean for you. Keep your room tidy and help to keep other areas of the home clean. Help with washing, make dinner and even set the table. Helping around makes sure they have time to rest and do other things. It feels good when they know they have someone who can keep things together at home.
Respect themYou can do everything on this list, but without respecting your parents, nothing else you do matters. When they are talking, you listen and do not interrupt (打断) them. If you have done wrong, apologize and avoid repeating the same mistake again. When you are out with friends, call your parents and let them know you’re okay. When you show them respect, it can help you build good relationship with your parents.

Many experts think that AI tools can help people work more efficiently. Many teachers, including me, have tried using them.
I use a tool called ChatGPT at work. It’s an AI tool that can quickly answer any question. But there are some downsides to this new technology. Sometimes, it can give wrong or one-sided answers because of wrong information it gets. It can also cause big problems with our privacy. Despite those risks, I still use AI-powered tools to plan lessons, give feedback on student homework, and reply to parents’ emails. And I’m looking for other ways to use the technology to make my job easier.
Take two other teachers, for example. Mike Kerr is a high school English teacher in Tennessee. He uses ChatGPT to help his students understand books better by reducing the Lexile levels, a test of a student’s reading ability and the difficulty of a text. High school students often have to read complex (复杂的) classic novels, which can be hard for new English learners. So, Kerr uses ChatGPT to give summaries of the books, which saves him time and allows him to focus more on helping the students through the text.
April Edwards, a 6th grade social studies teacher in Texas, shares how she uses AI in her teaching on a social media platform. “I use AI to create lesson plans, presentations, write emails, and create checklists. It’s a great starting point for a task or to get ideas,” she says. She hasn’t introduced AI to her students yet, because she wants to understand it fully before using it in the classroom. “My goal is to show them how to use AI responsibly and properly. If I use it irresponsibly and improperly, they might too,” she says.
50. What does Mike Kerr use AI to do?A.Reduce teaching pressure. | B.Help with students’ homework. |
C.Create lesson plans and write emails. | D.Help students understand classic novels better. |
A.优点 | B.效率 | C.缺点 | D.影响力 |
A.She totally agrees. | B.She is careful with it. |
C.She strongly disagrees. | D.She is worried about it. |

Once there was a lovely vegetable field with a very big tree in it. Both the vegetables and the tree made the garden look wonderful.
In fact, the vegetables and the tree couldn’t get on well with each other. The vegetables disliked the tree because they thought the tree didn’t leave them enough light, while the tree thought that the vegetables drank nearly all the water before it could reach him.
The situation became worse and worse. One day, the vegetables decided to use up all the water in the ground so that the tree would dry up. The tree fought back by refusing to offer the vegetables shade (树荫). Soon they both began to dry up under the hot sun.
Neither of them expected that the gardener would stop watering his vegetable field until a small pumpkin decided to do something to change the situation. The small pumpkin did all he could to grow though there was little water and it was too hot.
Finally, the gardener noticed the growing pumpkin among the dying vegetables. Therefore, he started to water the field again because he still wanted to make an effort to get the beautiful pumpkin. At the same time, the tree and the vegetables were saved. Since then, they realized that it was better to help each other than to fight, and they lived in harmony with other plants.
53. Why did the vegetables dislike the tree?(不超过10个词)54. How did the tree fight back the vegetables? (不超过10个词)
