Imagine this: It’s midnight. You’re very hungry after studying for a long time. Then you see a nice pie in the fridge (冰箱). Should you eat it? It seems that you shouldn’t for many reasons, because it may be bad for your brains (大脑).
Scientists have long known that eating late at night can make us fat. But now a new study has shown that late-night eating may also be bad for our brains—it might make a difference to our memories (记忆力).
“We believe that late-night eating may affect (影响) our learning by affecting the parts of the brain that control learning and memory,” Dawn Loh. PhD, a scientist at the University of California, said. “We believe the time of when we eat is the main cause of the bad memory.”
For the study, scientists did an experiment on mice. The mice could eat during the daytime or during the night. They had the same sleep and food. Then the scientists tested the brains of the mice and noticed that the mice eating during the night were not able to remember things well.
So think twice before the midnight snack—it might be bad for more than your body.

Good friends are very important to us, so it’s not surprising that a fight with a friend can be very sad. How should we keep the friendship(友谊) with others? Here are some useful skills at keeping good friendships.
Communicate with each other. Communication can make friends know each other better. It’s common for us to argue with our friends, because others may not understand us all the time, even our best friends. So in our lives, we should tell them our ideas and talk with them often.
Be a good listener. When our friends have problems, we should listen to them first. We should not tell our thoughts (想法) or stories all the time. Listening to friends carefully can make them feel that we care about them. Being good listeners can also help us better understand our friends’ thoughts.
Use the “I” message. When we want to tell our friends something, we’d better use the “I” message. Using the “I” message can make our friends easily follow our advice. It’s better to say “I think” than “You should”. The “you” message can make our friends feel that we are ordering them to do something. It is terrible. Then the friendship may not continue anymore.
