Eyes are important in our everyday life. We use them to read books, see colors and the beautiful things of the world. It’s of great importance to protect (保护) our eyes. But sometimes, we use them too much. That could hurt our eyes.
In the past, nearsightedness (近视) was a common eye problem for children. This is because of their bad eye habits. They watched TV too long and read books in bed. However, children these days spend more time studying and playing in front of electronic (电子) screens, such as computers, smartphones and iPads. This causes a new problem for their eyes: digital eyestrain (数字视疲劳). People with digital eyestrain may get headaches, dry and red eyes, eye pain, watering and other eye problems. But don’t worry. The following ways can help us protect our eyes properly. Try them out.
>Blink (眨眼) more often when you are looking at the screen. This can help to stop dry eyes.
>Remember the 20—20—20 rules: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second (秒) break and look at something 20 feet(about 6 meters)away.
>When using the computer, sit up straight in your chair and straighten your arms in front of you. Make sure your hands can’t reach the screen. And you need to look down at your screen.
>When you use the smart phone, keep it at least 30cm from your eyes. Try not to use your smartphone in sunlight.
34. What caused the nearsightedness in the past?A.Seeing colorful things. | B.Reading books in bed. | C.Using smart phones. |
A.He is nearsighted. | B.He has a digital eyestrain. | C.He is blind. |
A.Once. | B.Twice. | C.Three times. |
A.![]() | B.![]() | C.![]() |
A.To tell us to protect our eyes. |
B.To advise us to do eye exercises. |
C.To show the differences between nearsightedness and digital eyestrain. |
六、任务型阅读 添加题型下试题
Many kids do housework such as doing the dishes, making the bed, and folding the clothes. In return, they get some money or other computer time from their parents.
Paying kids for housework is one of the most popular topics, especially at a time when everyone is more careful about money. Some parents think we should pay kids for everyday housework because adults (成年人) are paid to do their jobs.
But some people don’t think kids should get rewards (报酬) for doing housework. Susie Walton, an expert, completely agrees. She believes that by rewarding kids, parents are sending a message that work isn't their job unless you get something in return. “Doing housework is a teamwork,” Walton said. “A home is a living space for everyone in the family. It’s important for kids to understand that everyone is fair in the house and we all have responsibilities (责任). Family members decide how they want their home to look, and how they are going to keep it clean and tidy.”
Other people believe that getting a reward encourages (鼓励) kids to do housework, and it also teaches them real world lessons about how we need to work to get money. There are also apps that give kids points and digital gifts that can be redeemed (兑现) either online or in the real world. “Our goal is to give kids lawful power so they can get rewards,” says Chris Bergman. “And kids need rewards to make them keep on doing housework.”
Should parents pay kids for doing housework? It is one of the most An expert named Susie Walton |
+关注 My parents argue a lot. Relations between them are very difficult. It seems that argument is the only communication they have. In my family, I’m the person who tries to look at both sides of the argument and tries to bring the arguing parties together to make peace. Dad, you shouldn’t say that to Mum, but Mum, try to see it this way.” |
+关注 My family also has lots of ups and downs. I learned much growing up in an argumentative family. The key is to try and understand. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes. If something is wrong, I think it over and look at things with an attitude (态度) of care and responsibility. So I can weather the storm and help them out. |
+关注 My family always find activities to do together. We enjoy playing sports, going to the movies, and going shopping together. My sister and I often share our feelings with my parents. We talk about something that is making us sad, or something that we are excited or scared about. My parents tell us everything, such as what they work for or about their own childhood. We hardly ever argue with each other. |
45. Does Susan get into the arguments?
46. What does Lin Tao do when his parents argue?
47. What does Mr. Cairo think is the key to stopping argument?
48. Why do Sunny’s family get on well with each other?
