Years ago, when I lived in England, part of my college volunteer job was to help children. I was chosen to work in a school with disabled children. The teacher asked me to take care of Nancy, a 10-year-old girl. One of her hands could not move. At her school, the teachers would think it was an achievement if she was able to put on her own coat. But I saw more in her. She had always wanted to put a string (细绳) through the hole of a key.

For five years, Nancy was in the school. The teachers always tried to help her, but always ended up doing all the work for her. I knew Nancy could do more, so I encouraged her to do something by herself. At first Nancy could never do it and got very upset. Sometimes I wanted to give up, too. However, after a week Nancy was able to do what she had wanted to do alone for so many years—she successfully put the string through the key hole. We all cried with joy when we saw what she was able to do with just a little encouragement.

With just some encouragement, disabled people can do something. I hope everyone will encourage people to do all that they want by themselves instead of telling them they can’t do it.

Children need to learn how to do chores and help their parents. There is an app called BusyKid and it makes doing chores easier for children. Parents set the chores and the money. When kids finish the chores, they click ( 点击) “I did it!”. Then on Friday, kids can get the money for doing the chores.

Burton is a student and he likes the app. “I can get money, and then I can divide it up into three parts: ‘save’, ‘share’ and ‘spend’. It teaches me how to make money and use it in the real world.” he said.

Many students spend too much time watching TV or playing computer games after school. They may wonder, “Why do I have to do chores?” Nancy uses the app with her children. She said, “I get that question often. I just tell them that’s the way your parents teach you and that we want you to learn about responsibility (责任).” Margie Zitko couldn’t agree more. “Children should do chores at home,” she said. “We shouldn’t do everything for our kids. We have to help them learn about real life. Home is where kids learn.” Zitko suggested that children start doing chores at a young age. The earlier kids learn to be independent, the better for their future. She also said the best way to help kids do chores at first is to work with them.

No matter if it’s burning hot or icy cold, a holiday or a school day, you’ll see policemen at the centers of the crossroads directing traffic.     17    

There are more than 1,7 million policemen in China.     18     Other police have different responsibilities (责任), Some are firefighters (消防员), Some watch Out for bad guys (家伙) and solve crimes. Others keep the peace. Special police deals with unexpected event.     19     He has to learn laws, science, shooting, driving and climbing.

To keep people safe and make peace for all, Chinese police put their lives at risk.     20     Another 13,000 were injured (伤害) in doing their jobs.

Last year, I had a good and bad trip. In June, my friend ______ me to take a trip with her. It was a long trip. The airline was really terrible. Everything was late, and the ______ was dirty, with food on the floor and paper everywhere. So it was worse than any flight I had taken. If the plane had been clean, I would have ______ the trip more. We flew to the capital city, and then took a train. After that, we took a boat to get to White Beach. Finally, ______ we left home at 5: 00 a. m., we arrived there at 10: 00 p. m.

The beach was ______! It was really white, and it was very clean. In fact, it was spotless, and the water was warm and blue. I was ______ to see the scenery. When she returned, she felt     42    . On the last day, my mother     43     me to the train station. At     44     we said nothing, and then she said, “Sorry for that night. You know that you are the most important to me.” I couldn’t     45     a word and I tried not to cry. Before getting on the train, I finally said sorry to her.She cried. But I knew she was happy
