People call him the mad scientist, but J. Craig Venter, had never stopped working to try to create life. He and his team created the world's first artificial cell（人造细胞）. They believe the new kinds of life will     46     food, oil and medicine for us.

Plant scientists consider them fruit. Most other people think of them as vegetables. Whatever you call tomatoes, there are many different kinds of this popular and healthy food.

Begin doing the work you love as soon as possible, even if you don't get paid for it, or if you can only work at it part-time. Albert Einstein was unable to get a job as a physics professor. He could have said to himself, “well, just don't have the work relative to（与…相关）physics. I should give up on it and look for something else.” But he didn't. Instead, he wrote the two most famous papers while working as a clerk. After the papers were published, there was not a major university in the world that would not have been glad to have him on their staff.

If you want to work as an artist and you are making living as waiter, don't think of yourself as a waiter who hopes one day to be an artist. That puts the work you love somewhere off in distant future. Rather, think of yourself as an artist, supporting yourself by waiting tables—and paint, or draw as much as you can. It's possible to earn a living wag（薪水）as a waiter working 24 hours a week. That leaves enough time to devote to training or developing your craft in the off hours.

While looking for the work you love, it helps to expand your awareness into the world of all possibilities. You don't want to be limited to the ideas of what you should do or what you have done before. Having opened to all possibilities you can make a final decision and select the work you love as your own.

Doing the work you love requires that you be equally comfortable with the imaginative and the practical（现实）. It requires the ability to dream big dreams and the ability to face and master all the little details that make dreams come true.

A few minutes later, the s    86     of the police car went away. “Well done, the robber said with a smile. Then he rushed to the girl. Almost at the same time the glass on the window was broken. The policemen hurried into the room from the balcony. They quickly put handcuffs on the robber. “Miss White, your greetings were so good that it made us take action right away,” said Sergeant Bull, “b    87     we knew that your elder brother was killed in a robbery six months ago.”

Ginny and I sat in the garden. A robin（知更鸟）flew into the tree. It had tree branch in its mouth and put it down after choosing a perfect place. A second robin with a branch joined the first. Throughout the next few days, we watched the couple work together to make a resting place.

Days later, the mommy bird moved into her new home. The couple took turns to warm the eggs. The rain fell. At night, the temperatures dropped below zero, but the two robins protected their eggs. The wind blew; the tree rocked; and the robins held tight. The eggs would not fall on their watch. That was the hardest part for the couple.

A week or two later, Ginny and watched as they carried worms（蠕虫）to the nest. We watched little beaks（蠕鸟喙）rise above the edge of the nest, and reach for Mom or Dad.

One morning as I sat and read a book, found movements in the bush—two baby robins were there. Mom and Dad followed them. They no longer pushed worms between the babies' beaks. They put the worms beside them. In the nest, the last of the family sat and waited for its dinner. Mommy and Daddy flew close to the nest with a tasty worm and then flew off with dinner. The baby jumped around the edge of the nest, and hesitated（犹豫）. Finally it jumped to the edge of the nest, spread its young wings and flew towards Mommy on the ground.
