The children all over the world celebrate their birthdays in the same way: candles, cakes and birthday wishes. But there are some different ways to celebrate birthdays from country to country. Here are a few.

Argentina（阿根廷）

In Argentina, as in many Latin American countries, one of the most important birthday parties is a girl’s fifteenth. When girls turn 15 they have a big party dance first with their father, and then the boys at the party.

China

The birthday child gets presents from the parents. Friends and family members are invited to dinner, and noodles are served to wish the birthday child a long life.

India

Usually Indian children wear white to school. However, on their birthday children wear colored clothes to school and give out chocolates to everyone in the class. Their best friend helps them to do this.

Holland（荷兰）

The birthday child receives an especially large present. The family also put flowers or balloons on the birthday child’s chair to make it beautiful.

Mrs. Green wanted to hold a party. She was beginning to write the invitations when Mr. Green saw that she was writing “Party: 6:30 to 8:30 pm”.

“That’s not very nice,” he said. “You are telling our guests that they must go home at 8:30.” So Mrs Green just wrote “Party: 6:30 pm”.

A lot of guests came to the party, and they all had a good time. They didn’t go home at 8:30. In fact, they were still there at midnight when a policeman arrived. He said, “You must stop making noise, because someone has complained（抱怨）.” So everybody went home.

Mrs. Green was surprised. She asked Mr. Green, “Who complained about the noise”

“I did,” Mr. Green answered in a tired voice.

Sydney is the coast of Australia.    82     It’s famous for its Opera House and the Sydney Harbor Bridge. The weather is warm. The temperature is about 12 degrees in winter. And it is about 35 degrees in summer. It has beautiful beaches and many parks.

    83     You can see many visitors in the park from different countries. It’s quite a popular park. The only way to see this is by going “bush”（荒野小路）. Then you could find some nice gravel roads（砾石路）.    84     Of course you will need to travel with food and water. To see a small part of the mountains, you need some days, because there are many roads to get to the Blue Mountains.

Sydney has many beautiful beaches.    85     They are Bondi and Manly. Bondi has a nice street with many shops and restaurants. Parking is not hard in the place. Manly is a great beach to go to. If you want to go there, you can take a coat. It’s a cheap and great way to see the Sydney harbor.    86
