Each nation has many good people who help to take care of others. For example, some high school and college   students   in the   USA often___________many hours   as volunteers   in hospitals, orphanages（孤儿院） or _______for the aged. Clothes for homeless

HELP is a local charity(慈善机构) offering clothes to homeless people. They need warm clothing for the winter so this month HELP would like you to donate(捐赠) new clothes or old clothes you no longer need.

Collection sessions will be held every Saturday and Sunday in December.

In the fight against the new coronavirus(新型冠状病毒), Chinese people have come up with creative solutions (解决办法) to different problems.

All for masks

During the outbreak, medical supplies (供应) such as masks are needed by many. To increase (增加) production, over 3,000 Chinese companies have changed their production lines (生产线) to make medical equipment. For example, a company that used to make clothes spent 55 hours changing their production lines and is now able to make 1,200 protective medical suits (医疗防护服) every day.

Sharing employees

The idea of “sharing workers (共享员工)” has become popular during the outbreak. As most people are staying at home, many workers in restaurants and shopping malls have no work and are not getting paid. Meanwhile, online orders of grow, leaving e-business platforms (平台) such as JD.com shorthanded (人手短缺).As a result, many unemployed people have started to look for part-time jobs. As of Feb 10, over 1,800 workers had started their new short-term jobs as delivery (送货) workers with Freshhema, Xinhua reported.

Amazing speed

Because there are lots of infected ( 被 感 染 的 ) people in Wuhan, more hospital beds are needed. The government decided to build Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan. More than 4,000 workers worked 24/7 in two shifts ( 轮 班 ), and nearly 1,000 pieces of large equipment and transport vehicles (运输车辆) helped them build the hospitals. It took less than 15 days to finish the two hospitals. They provide about 2,600 beds. “China has a record of getting things done fast even for monumental projects (大型项目) like this,”said Yanzhong Huang, an expert form the Council on Foreign Relations. “This is very hard for Westerners to imagine,” Huang added.

A well-known poem by Tang dynasty poet Du Mu tells of a sad scene in early April: “Rains fall heavily as Qingming comes, and passers-by with lowered spirits go.”

This scene takes place on Tomb Sweeping Day, also known as Qingming Festival. Tomb Sweeping Day is a traditional Chinese festival. It began in the Zhou dynasty, over 2,500 years ago. Chinese people celebrate it to remember and honor their ancestors (祖先). This year, it falls on April 4. Tomb Sweeping Day became a public holiday in the Chinese mainland in 2008. People have one day off for that day.

On this day, families bring flowers, food and wine to the grave sites ( 墓地) of their ancestors. They place cakes, fruits in front of the graves and some may burn joss paper, as money for the dead. After that, they sweep the tombs and cherish (怀念) the memories of their dead family members．

Tomb Sweeping Day gives us a chance to show respect to our ancestors and family members who have passed away and show that we miss them. This tradition shows that family values are an important part of Chinese culture．

Tomb Sweeping Day is also the beginning of the time for gardening and outdoor activities   in China．Families often get together for outings or fly kites at this time．

On December 3rd, 2017, a program by CCTV called National Treasure《国家宝藏》was shown to people all over the country. It became popular with both the old and the young as soon as it came out.

The show took 27 pieces of cultural relics( 文 物 ) from nine museums across the country, such as the Palace Museum, Shanghai Museum, Shanxi History Museum and so on. The show expected to bring life to the national treasures. They invited 27 actors and another 27 common people to tell “the old and new life stories” of the relics. The actor acted in a short play about the history of each relic. The other person told his or her own story about the relic.

More and more people are interested not only in the relics themselves, but also in enjoying the stories behind those relics. There are a lot of jokes online about the show. They also help the show a lot by bringing the museums and relics closer to people.

Artificial intelligence (AI) (人工智能) is growing rapidly. We are living in a world that depends more and more on AI. AI is a group of technologies that help machines get, understand and use information to do tasks.

AI’s recent developments have got a lot of social attention. Some people have welcomed AI because it makes things possible. For example, AI will have a big influence on areas like medicine and engineering. But this attention has also produced a lot of fear. Especially, many workers are worrying that AI could make them lose their jobs.

According to a recent study, nearly five percent of jobs will disappear because of AI. In some industries, AI is already doing the work that people used to do, such as assembling (装配) cars, digging the coal and lifting goods.
