Many years ago, there was an old man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge (判断) things too______, so he told them to go and look at a pear tree. It was far away from his home. The first son went in winter, the second in spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in autumn.

Uncle Fat is a monkey in Thailand. He is often seen asking for junk food and soda from visitors. He also has some followers who often deliver (递送) him food. Though he does share some of the food with younger monkeys, Uncle Fat eats more than his fair share (公平份额). His unhealthy eating habits has been shared on social media. Many people think it funny. However, as the monkey becomes fatter and fatter, it is quite clear that the eating habits are dangerous for him. Uncle Fat now weighs 27kg, about three times of a common adult monkey.

The over fat has put the monkey at a high risk of heart disease. A group named Monkey Lovers has brought Uncle Fat to an animal health care center. The fat monkey is now on a strict diet of fruits and vegetables.

More importantly, visitors should realize it is not a right thing to feed the monkeys human snacks and drinks. On one hand, it may cause health problems. On the other hand, the animals will be no longer able to or willing to find food on their own. However, monkeys are an important part of local tourism. Visitors are encouraged to offer monkeys healthier food like bananas and peanuts.

“To put yourself in someone else’s shoes” means to put yourself in someone else’s condition, especially a bad one. Have you ever tried to put yourself in someone else’s shoes before? If you have, let’s share the story together.

It was a true story in an African country. The white government had a public rule. It was that black people could not go to some places that white people could. White people tried to stay away from black people because they thought white people were more excellent than black people.

One day a white girl from America, Becky, lay on the beach to take a break from swimming in the sea. Then she fell asleep. When she woke up, the sun went down already. She was so hungry that she walked into a restaurant near the beach. She picked a chair by the window and sat down. She kept waiting for about 15 minutes. No waiter took her order. She got really angry. Finally, she decided to find the manager.

When she stood up and was ready to shout at the manager, she saw a large mirror before her. When she looked at herself in the mirror, her eyes filled up with tears. It was clear that she was suntanned. She looked like a black girl instead. At this moment, Becky realized how black people felt when white people looked down upon them!

A good book can be satisfying, can improve your knowledge and can teach you a lot. There are several ways to develop a lifetime reading habit.

Set times. You should have a few set times every day for at least 5--10 minutes, no matter what happens. For example, make it a habit to read during breakfast and lunch (and even dinner if you eat alone)

Always carry a book. When you leave a house, make sure to have at least one book. You may keep the book in the car, or into the office or to anywhere you go, unless you’re sure you won’t have time to read.

Find a ______ place. Find a place in your home where you can sit without television or computer near the chair. There should be no music or noisy family members.

Set a high aim. For example, tell yourself that you want to read 50 books this year. Try your best to finish reading them. Just be sure you’re still enjoying the reading.
