Elephants are smart animals. They can play soccer or music. They can also draw very well. People say that "an elephant never forgets". Elephants can walk for a long time and never get lost. They can also remember places with food and water. This helps them to live.

But elephants are in great danger. People cut down many trees so elephants are losing their homes. People also kill elephants for their ivory. Today there are only about 3,000 elephants（over 100,000 before）,We must save the trees and not buy things made of ivory. Remember that March 13th is Thai Elephant Day.

Here, a penguin（企鹅）is telling you something about his life:I am a penguin. I live in the Antarctic（南极）with all my friends. Our home is very cold, like an ice box. Every day we see only snow and ice around us. In summer, the sun shines all the time. We don't have night at all. In winter, the sun never shines. Then, it's night all the time. We are happy here. Most of the time, we live in the water. I often swim with my friends in the water. I am a good swimmer. We can swim very fast. Sometimes we ride on big pieces of ice. Some people think we can fly, in fact, we can't. Oh, what do we eat? We eat shellfish every day.

The River Thames is the longest river in England and the second longest in the UK. The River Severn is the first longest river in the UK. But the Thames is the most famous. That’s probably because it’s in London, the capital city. The Thames goes through London and other parts of the south of England.

Some of the best-known places in London are by the Thames: the Big Ben clock on the northside of the river; the London Eye on the south side, with its view(风景) of the city ; and St Paul’s Cathedral (圣保罗大教堂), which had to be rebuilt after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Some of the many bridges over the River Thames are also famous: Westminster Bridge, Tower Bridge and Millennium Bridge.

It is famous for art, too. Some of the UK’s most well-known artists have painted the Thames, including Turner and Constable in the 18th and 19th centuries. Turner is famous for painting water—the sea and the rivers—while Constable is famous as a painter of fields and forests.

The study of 2,000 women has found that women visit the hairdresser five times a year on average, and about 100 like to try something different with each trip to the hairdresser. Almost half are willing to be experimental and change their hairs style.

Women are likely to go for two new styles and at least one color change every year between the ages of 15 and 65. The study found that 64 percent of women will change their hair simply because they are bored with their current（目前的）style. Nearly 12 percent will change their hair in order to look like a celebrity（名人）while 15 percent will change their style for a wedding. 13 percent of women would change their hairstyle after having a baby. Other reasons for trying a new hairstyle were birthdays.

However, men are not as troublesome as women. They only try five different hairstyles and then stick to their favorite one in their lifetime. Men usually stick with just one style because of its being convenient（68 percent）or being liked by their partner（10 percent）.

The study of 2,000 men also noticed how celebrity hairstyles have the influence on them and what kind of haircuts would be more fashionable in their eyes. 400 of them admit they want to grow their hair longer to copy the likes of David Beckham and actor Brad Pitt, while 240 consider ①dying their hair grey, to keep up with fashion trends（潮流）. Actually, a hairstyle that stands for one’s personality is the first choice for men.
