Chang’e-5 Back Home In an ancient Chinese story, a beautiful goddess named Chang’e flew to the moon alone. It was a sad story because she never came back home. To work together with other countries, China has planned to send some rocks to scientists from all over the world. Today I will tell you a story about the future. Do you hear of the movie I, Robot?
The year is 2035 and robots are just as common as mobile phones. People depend on their robots to do lots of things, such as babysitting, cooking, doing chores and taking their dogs for a walk. Robots have to obey (服从) humans’ orders (命令), because their designers (设计师) make them do so. A police officer (警官) called Spooner hates robots. He thinks humans can’t get on well with their robots at all! However, the scientist Susan has different ideas. Susan works on robots’ mind and she thinks one day robots will become more powerful than humans and help humans to make progress (进步). When Spooner and Susan work together, they find that something is wrong with the world’s robots. A few robots have their own thoughts and they’re trying to get out of humans’ control (控制)! Of course these robots’ dream doesn’t come true. Humans work hard to control their robots again and they succeed at last.

Even in early times, people could realize the importance of dreams and knew that dreams gave meaning to life. Every great achievement has been the result of years of dreaming. If a person has a dream and holds fast to it, he or she will find a way to bring it into reality(现实).
Children do not have much experience or knowledge. However, they are natural dreamers. We should not laugh at them for being naive(幼稚的). With their rich imagination, they will come up with fantastic dreams. History is full of examples. Many great men were dreamers when they were children. One such dreamer was Thomas Edison. He used to be ostracized(排斥) when he was in primary school, but his achievements were greater than everyone else’s in his time.
Teenagers and young people should also be encouraged to dream. The world is full of successful teenagers and young people. Their dreams changed their lives and even the world. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are the good examples. They have developed technology and brought great progress to human besides making money for themselves.
Older people should believe that it is never too late to dream and that human mind is never too old to make dreams turn into reality. Colonel Saunders realized his dreams at the age of 67 and set up the biggest fried chicken company(KFC) in the world.
To dream is a wonderful ability which can lead to wonderful results. Olympic records were broken by players who were brave enough to dream. No one is too young or too old to dream and to make dreams come true.
1. What will a person do if he or she has a dream and holds fast to it?2. How will children come up with fantastic dreams?

Many kids do housework such as doing the dishes, making the bed, and folding the clothes. In exchange, they get some money or other computer time for doing housework. Paying kids for housework is one of the most popular topics, especially at a time when everyone is more careful about money. Some parents think because adults are paid to do their jobs, we should pay kids for everyday housework. But some people don’t think kids should get rewards (报酬) for doing housework. Susie Walton, an expert, believe that by rewarding kids, parents send a message that work isn’t worth doing unless u pet something in return. “Running any kind of housework is a team effort.” Walton said. “A home is a living space for everyone in the family. It’s important for kids to see that we all have responsibilities in the house, and families decide how they want their here to look, and how they are going to keep it looking like what they want.” Other people believe that getting a reward encourages kids to do housework, and it also teaches them real world lessons about how we need to work to get money. There are also apps (程序) that gives kids points and digital gifts that can be redeemed (兑现) either online or in the real world. “Our goal is to give kids lawful power so they can get rewards,” says Chris Bergman “And kids need rewards to help encourage them to do housework.” |

When you’re struggling to finish a task at work, throwing on some Bach or Beethoven may worth a try. That’s the main conclusion of an experiment on several British workers that found listening to classical music at work can improve productivity by 15%.
An initial(初步的) survey of 2, 000 UK employees said that half of them listen to music on the job. Some of those employees’ bosses reportedly encouraged the practice, but others were strictly against it, believing it might hurt work performance. So, British classical music station Scala Radio and psychologist Dr. Becky Spelman decided on the experiment to find out if background music hurts or lower work efficiency.
Four office workers were asked to transcribe(抄写) two 600-word sets of song lyrics. The first set was transcribed with no music playing, while the other was completed with classical music playing in the background. The first task, completed in silence, was completed in an average time of 20 minutes and 59 seconds. However, the second transcription exercise that involved music was completed in an average time of 17 minutes and 42 seconds. There is a difference of 15% between them.
“Music has very powerful influence on the brain. It affects mood, mental performance and physical performance,” says Dr. Spelman. “When provided with music, we can have a calm, regular beat, it can actually help us to stay calm, reducing our stress, slowing our heart rate, which makes it easier for us to focus on the task at hand.”
1. Why did other bosses strictly against their employees listening to music at work?2. Who took part in Dr. Becky Spelman’s experiment?
3. How was the first set of song lyrics transcribed?
4. What’s the average time of finishing the the second transcription exercise?

Today, more and more parents ask their children to play sports every day. Because they worry about their children’s health and want to know more ways to help children keep healthy.
Being healthy means a person eats well and gets enough physical activities. If you are healthy, your mind works well and feels good. Here are some rules you can follow to keep healthy.
Eat all kinds of foods. You may have your favorite food, but it is important to eat all kinds of foods. Try to eat at least five kinds of fruits and vegetables a day—two fruits and three vegetables.
Spend less time on screen. Some children spend much time watching TV, playing computer games or using a smart phone. These three sitting down activities are really bad for your health. Try to spend no more than two hours a day on screen.
Be active. You need to find what activities you like as a child. Not everyone loves baseball or soccer. Maybe your favorite is swimming or dancing. You can write down the enjoyable things when your mother says it’s time to stop playing computer games!

And each time you avoid using your car, you’re doing something helpful to cut down air pollution. You are saving fuel(燃料), saving money and keeping fit as well.

A talk between Shenzhou- 14 astronauts and ASEAN teenagers started on November 1, 2022. The main talk place was in Beijing. The Shenzhou- 14 astronauts are Liu Yang, Chen Dong and Cai Xuzhe. The talk interested nearly 1, 000 teenagers from China and ASEAN member states. They talked with each other on the Internet.
Some students were interested in the three astronauts’ life in the space station. The astronaut answered their questions patiently. There is no gravity(重力)in space, so things are not as heavy as they are on Earth. When they drop something, it doesn’t fall to the floor. They eat and drink differently in space. They have special plates so that their food doesn’t fly away. In fact, they can drink hot water and eat fresh and hot food in the space station. Though they can see sunrises and sunsets every 90 minutes in space, they still get 7 hours of sleep every night.
The three astronauts also say exercise is important for them as well. Since there is no gravity their muscles(肌肉) become weak very quickly. To prevent this from happening, they have to exercise on special machines to train their muscles every day. However, it is not all hard work in space. When they are not doing science experiments, writing reports or exercising, they watch movies and read the news for fun.
A high school student from the Philippines thought the talk was creative and interesting. It made him know more about the life of astronauts. He knew the beauty of our planet well from the talk, too.

Sun Jiadong, China’s top space scientist, plays a leading role in the research of man-made satellites(卫星)and outer space. He has helped China make great achievements in the space industry. Sun will never forget the moment when the song Dongfanghong was played in space in 1970. He was the technical director of Dong Fang Hong 1(DFH-1). DFH-1, China’s first man-made satellite, was successfully sent into space on April 24, 1970. The 41-year-old director was very excited and proud. Sun can still remember the dark hours clearly. China’s early space workers faced really difficult research conditions. One example is that China’s first recoverable(可收回的)satellite exploded(爆炸)in the sky in 1974. It was a project directed by Sun. “For three days and nights, we stayed in the desert and searched through parts of the spacecraft. We finally found it exploded because a tiny wire(电线)broke inside the satellite,” said Sun. The team learned from the accident, and then paid more attention to each part of their later work. Sun’s work in the space industry has never stopped. In 2004, when he was 75, he took part in China’s Lunar Exploration Project. After years of hard work, Sun and his team launched Chang’e-1. From the first man-made satellite to China’s Lunar Exploration Project and the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, Sun has done a lot for China’s space industry.
