Mr. Katzmarzyk is a scientist at the University of Louisiana. He has led a team to study how sitting all day influences the length of life. He said, “We sit while we’re eating. We sit in the car. We sit while we are watching TV. And many of us sit for many hours at work. On average（平均）, Americans sit between four and five hours a day.” Mr. Katzmarzyk added, “Even though you do exercise for half an hour every day, that doesn’t mean you can sit for the rest of your waking hours.” The research shows that if one sits less than three hours a day, he may live two years longer.

Some companies have already realized the importance of sitting less. Change has already come to their offices, especially in the design（设计）of desks. A “standing desk” lets people stand when they work. Another new design is called the “treadmill desks”. A treadmill is an exercise machine that has a moving surface that people can walk or run on while remaining in the same place. Even some US schools are beginning to provide their students with desks that are bicycle parts to keep children moving in class.

Chang’e-5 Back Home In an ancient Chinese story, a beautiful goddess named Chang’e flew to the moon alone. It was a sad story because she never came back home. However, another Chinese “Chang’e” just came back. After weeks of space travel, the Chang’e-5 lunar probe(月球探测器)came home on December 17th, 2020. It landed successfully in Siziwang banner in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region. The whole flight took more than 20 days. Chang’e-5 brought back rocks and soil from the moon. They are the world’s freshest lunar rocks in over 40 years. China has become the third country in the world to successfully bring back rocks from the moon, after the US and the former Soviet Union. The return of Chang’e-5 was the last step in China’s three-step lunar exploration program(探月工程). It began in 2004, including orbiting, landing, and bringing back samples, Xinhua News Agency reported. To work together with other countries, China has planned to send some rocks to scientists from all over the world. Going to the moon has been a dream for Chinese people, and the story of Chang’e has been told through the ages. Now, Chang’e-5 has helped Chinese people realize the dream.

This is what Chinese astronauts Fei Junlong and Nie Haisheng said in Hong Kong. Fei, Nie and leading engineers of Shenzhou VI visited Hong Kong. They talked with primary, high school and college students.

The kids were interested in the astronauts’ life in space. They asked questions like “Did you see the Great Wall from space?” Fei and Nie said they didn’t. But they felt excited when they passed over China. Speaking of the life in space, they said teamwork with each other was the most important. “We are like the left and right hands,” they said.

Some young people wanted to know how the astronauts developed their careers（事业）. “How did you decide to be astronauts when China’s space industry is still at the beginning?” asked a young woman. They said it was because of their love for flight and the need of the country. They said their love for flight could be seen from their children’s names…Nie’s daughter is called “Nie Tianxiang”, which means “flying up high”. Fei’s son is called Fei Di, which sounds like “Fei Die”, meaning UFO.
