A talk between Shenzhou- 14 astronauts and ASEAN teenagers started on November 1, 2022. The main talk place was in Beijing. The Shenzhou- 14 astronauts are Liu Yang, Chen Dong and Cai Xuzhe. The talk interested nearly 1, 000 teenagers from China and ASEAN member states. They talked with each other on the Internet.
Some students were interested in the three astronauts’ life in the space station. The astronaut answered their questions patiently. There is no gravity(重力)in space, so things are not as heavy as they are on Earth. When they drop something, it doesn’t fall to the floor. They eat and drink differently in space. They have special plates so that their food doesn’t fly away. In fact, they can drink hot water and eat fresh and hot food in the space station. Though they can see sunrises and sunsets every 90 minutes in space, they still get 7 hours of sleep every night.
The three astronauts also say exercise is important for them as well. Since there is no gravity their muscles(肌肉) become weak very quickly. To prevent this from happening, they have to exercise on special machines to train their muscles every day. However, it is not all hard work in space. When they are not doing science experiments, writing reports or exercising, they watch movies and read the news for fun.
A high school student from the Philippines thought the talk was creative and interesting. It made him know more about the life of astronauts. He knew the beauty of our planet well from the talk, too.

How do you keep healthy? Do you often do exercise? Even if the answer is yes, it’s not enough. According to a new research done by an American scientist called Peter Katzmarzyk, people who want to live a longer and healthier life should not only exercise more, but also sit less.
Mr. Katzmarzyk is a scientist at the University of Louisiana. He has led a team to study how sitting all day influences the length of life. He said, “We sit while we’re eating. We sit in the car. We sit while we are watching TV. And many of us sit for many hours at work. On average(平均), Americans sit between four and five hours a day.” Mr. Katzmarzyk added, “Even though you do exercise for half an hour every day, that doesn’t mean you can sit for the rest of your waking hours.” The research shows that if one sits less than three hours a day, he may live two years longer.
Some companies have already realized the importance of sitting less. Change has already come to their offices, especially in the design(设计)of desks. A “standing desk” lets people stand when they work. Another new design is called the “treadmill desks”. A treadmill is an exercise machine that has a moving surface that people can walk or run on while remaining in the same place. Even some US schools are beginning to provide their students with desks that are bicycle parts to keep children moving in class.
1. What should people do to live a longer and healthier life besides exercise?2. What is Mr. Katzmarzyk’s job?

Have you ever heard of the Danish word “hygge”? Do you know its meaning? There is no English word for the exact meaning of “hygge”.
Enjoying beautiful music or having a movie night is hygge. Lighting candles or making tea in china cups—that is also hygge. There’s nothing more hygge than sitting around a table with your family or friends, discussing big and small things in life. Hygge means the idea of making daily activities special or meaningful, according to the BBC.
For Danish people, hygge is a way of fighting the cold winter, though it doesn’t have to be a winter-only thing. In Denmark, there can be up to 17 hours of darkness a day in winter, and the temperature is around 0℃, according to the BBC. As a result, people spend more time indoors and enjoy home activities.
Now the idea of hygge is becoming popular in some other countries, too. In the UK and the US, there are more and more hygge-themed cookbooks and lifestyle guides, as well as Danish restaurants, cafes and bars.
“The rest of the world seems to be slowly waking up to what Danes have been wise to for ages,” Helen Russell, author of The Year of Living Danishly, told the BBC.

The government pays attention to the importance of hard-working spirit education. Teenagers will grow up and leave their parents in the future, so they should learn some life skills. But many teenagers don’t know the importance of working hard.
A girl, Nancy, never helps out in the house. Once her mother was on vacation for a week, leaving her alone at home. When her mother came home from vacation, she could not find a clean dish or a clean shirt.
Schools plays an important part in teaching students about the importance of working hard. Schools should provide students with hard-working spirit courses (课程) every week. Some schools provide each class with a piece of field to plant vegetables. For example, No. 38 Middle School in Hefei sets up a farm on an open platform (平台) of their teaching building. It is about 500 square meters.
Teenagers should learn two life skills every year. Parents should also teach children to learn how to do chores at home, including cooking, washing their own clothes and cleaning their rooms. The skills may help teenagers solve the problems they will meet in the future.
1. Why should teenagers learn some life skills?2. How long did Nancy stay at home alone?

WeChat is a new and powerful mobile communication tool. It supports sending voices, videos, photos and text messages. You can also do group chats, or you can find new friends nearby to chat.
Recently, “WeChat” is becoming more and more popular in China. People can sign up and leave text or voice messages for free, no matter where they are. They can also find a “stranger” to talk to by “shaking the phone”. The system will find out others who are shaking their phones at the same time and make a match. Another amazing function is that WeChat can help to search for people who live nearby with the program on, and show the rough (大致的) distance. I like this function best, because it can help you find more people who you may know.
Nowadays, I read news that some stupid girls met guys they knew by shaking the cellphone and there were unpleasant incidents (事件) after they met. It obviously showed a lack of common sense (常识). They should learn to protect themselves and not trust strangers so much.
Technology makes life easier and sweeter, but at the same time it teaches us bitter lessons. Being careful is necessary.

My Opinions on Using WeChat
WeChat is now a widely used app in our daily life.
As we all know, plastic packaging (外包装) is bad for the environment. The Rimping Supermarket in Chiang Mai, Thailand came up with a good idea一by using banana leaves.
Banana leaves are very large and strong. The Rimping Supermarket packs its vegetables in banana leaves. To keep the banana leaves in place, the supermarket ties them with bamboo strings (细绳). This way it cuts down on the use of plastic. Also, it helps the vegetables get more air so that they look fresher and healthier. People in Thailand think using banana leaves to pack vegetables is wonderful. There are lots of banana leaves in the country and it’s really good to let them work for the environment.
Now many stores in Vietnam have copied the idea. Hoa, a teacher, said,“I think this idea will help people be more aware of protecting the environment.” Environmentalists also praised the idea. The United Nations Environment Program estimates (估算) that by 2050 there will be 12 billion tonnes (公吨) of plastic in the world.

This is what Chinese astronauts Fei Junlong and Nie Haisheng said in Hong Kong. Fei, Nie and leading engineers of Shenzhou VI visited Hong Kong. They talked with primary, high school and college students.
The kids were interested in the astronauts’ life in space. They asked questions like “Did you see the Great Wall from space?” Fei and Nie said they didn’t. But they felt excited when they passed over China. Speaking of the life in space, they said teamwork with each other was the most important. “We are like the left and right hands,” they said.
Some young people wanted to know how the astronauts developed their careers(事业). “How did you decide to be astronauts when China’s space industry is still at the beginning?” asked a young woman. They said it was because of their love for flight and the need of the country. They said their love for flight could be seen from their children’s names…Nie’s daughter is called “Nie Tianxiang”, which means “flying up high”.
