Planning is the first stage in writing. Even when we plan a text or a short note,we first think about what we’re going to say.
Planning your writing is thinking about what you’re going to write before you write it. |
The importance of planning
There are many benefits(好处) to planning your writing. It helps you to:
●come up with new ideas
●record your ideas
●organise your thoughts
●check that you have all the information you need
Think about the possible advantages(优势) to planning.
What to think about when planning
When planning your writing, think about why you’re writing, and who you’re writing to.
The reason you’re writing is your purpose(目的) for writing. The audience is the person or the people you are writing to. Every time you write something, think about your writing purpose and your audience. If you’re writing a report for your work supervisor(管理者),you may need to plan what you say carefully to make sure you've included all your points, and that your writing is as clear as possible.
The writing process(过程)
Writing may be done alone or together with one or more people. You may want to write by hand or you may prefer(偏爱) word-processing it. Using a computer can be helpful when you want to make changes to your text, as you can re-draft(改写) using the‘copy’,‘cut’and‘paste’functions, which saves you from writing your text out again in full.

“Mom, have you worked out next week’s chores? Let Jim and me choose the cards. I can’t wait. It’s fun!” When Robert shouted out, his mother had already put all the cards on their big table. On the cards, there are some words like these, “sweep the floor, clean your bedroom, help Mom cook, wash vegetables, make beds, feed the fish, cut the wood, clean the bathroom and many others.” Jim and Robert each chose two cards for each day from Monday to Friday. Then they would hang them on the weekday task board. Jim liked to clean the bathroom, so he picked up the card “clean the bathroom”. Robert loved to make the bed so he picked up his favorite card. Jim again picked up “wash vegetables” and Robert chose “feed the fish”. Soon the two boys were happy to take away all the cards.
To help the children do chores, their mother thought hard and came up with this idea. Of course, the parents did the chores at weekends and left Jim and Robert two days free.

When people think about carrots, they usually think they are a kind of long, thin, orange-colored vegetable. In fact, carrots are in many different sizes and shapes. And not all carrots are orange.
Carrots should be grown in a field that does not have water for a long time. The earth also should not be too hard. To prepare your carrot garden, dig up the earth and turn it over (翻土).
Weather, soil condition (土壤状况), and time affect (影响) the taste of carrots. Warm days and cool nights are the best time to grow great delicious carrots.
The best way to decide if a carrot is ready to be harvested is by its color. Usually, the brighter the color is, the better the taste is.
Most people do not know that carrots can be grown during the winter months. If the winter is not cold enough to freeze the ground, you can grow carrots the same way as you do during the summer months.
Carrots are prepared and eaten in many different ways. They are cut into thin pieces and cooked with other vegetables or meat. Or, they are washed, and eaten just as they come out of the ground.

Now, a new AI tool (工具) is used in the making of new movies.
This new AI tool is called “Deepfakes”. It can take out the actor’s picture/photo from an old movie and use it to create a “Digital image (数字形象)” for a new movie. For example, “Deepfakes” can make it seem as if the person is saying words. But in fact, he never said. In Hollywood, the tool has been used to make actors look younger and to solve other problems.
For Duncan, he thinks actors have their qualities (特征), such as appearance and voice. These qualities make them different from the others. If the moviemakers (制片人) always use “Deepfakes”, these actors will lose their jobs. Besides, it is unfair to use actors’ images without paying money and the admission of the author. While many actors are worried about AI, others can accept it. Harrison Ford doesn’t mind about moviemakers using AI. Ford first played Indiana Jones in the 1980s. Now he is 80 years old. By using “Deepfakes”, Ford will appear in the movie Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny again.
“Though I think ‘Deepfakes’ is a good tool, moviemakers must do it with more things, such as the actors’ personalities instead of just copying old movies. Or everything made in the future is going to be the copy of the old works”, said Duncan.

Arms. How you hold your arms show how open you are to people you meet. If you keep your arms to the side of your body or behind your back, this suggests you are not afraid of facing whatever may happen to you. Outgoing (活泼外向的) people usually use their arms with big movements, while shy people keep them close to their bodies.
Head. When you want to appear confident, keep your head level. If you are a monitor in class, you can also act in this way when you want your words to be taken seriously. However, to be friendly and listening or speaking, you must move your head a little.
Legs. Your legs usually move around a lot more than normal when you are nervous or telling lies. If you are at interviews, tried to keep them still (静止的)!
Mouth. When you were thinking, you often close your lips. You can also use this expression to hold back your anger that you don’t wish to show. However, it will probably still be noticed, and people will know you were not pleased.
Face. When you lie, you might put on a false face. But that expression would crack (失败) easily, showing your feelings such as happiness, sadness, disgust (厌恶) and so on.

“Keep your history of surfing the Internet.” Lin Kai warns his 11-year-old son, who needs to study online classes given by his teachers. Mr. Lin has reasons to be worried.
