Welcome to our school. The school is on Long Street. Next to the school is a supermarket. The students often buy the things they need in it. The restaurant is across from the school. Sometimes, we enjoy the delicious food in it. And there is a police station near our school. It’s on New Street, between a hospital and a bookshop. Across from them, there is a beautiful park. On their way home, the wind was strong and it was getting colder and colder. Both John and Sam wanted to drink some wine to keep warm, but they had a rule. They couldn’t drink any wine because they had to sell it. Because of the rule, if someone wanted to drink some wine, he had to pay the other twice the price.
John was a clever man. He took out ten cents and gave it to Sam. He said, “Here is ten cents. Would you please sell me some of your wine?” Sam was a businessman(商人), so he said, “You give me money, so of course I will sell some to you.” Then he passed John a cup of wine.

While most people were warming up their cars, Trevor, my husband, had to get up early to ride his bike four kilometers away from home to work. When he arrived, he parked his bike outside the back door as he usually does. After working for 10 hours, he returned to find his bike gone.
The bike, a black Kona 18 speed, was our only transport. Trevor used it to get to work, putting in 60-hour weeks to support his young family. And the bike was also used to get groceries (杂货), saving us from having to walk long distances from where we live.
I was so sad that someone would steal our bike that I wrote to the newspaper and told them our story. Shortly after that, several people in our area offered to help. One wonderful stranger even bought a bike, then called my husband to pick it up. Once again my husband had a way to get to and from his job. It really is an honor that a complete stranger would go out of their way for someone they have never met before.
People say that a smile can be passed from one person to another, but acts of kindness from strangers are even more so. This experience has had a effect in our lives because it made us believe strongly that there’s love between people. No matter how big or how small, an act of kindness shows that someone cares. And the results can be everlasting.
