Hearing her words, I stopped crying and started to climb again. Finally I made it. I did reach the top of the mountain and enjoyed the wonderful view.

【推荐2】In 1995, Ray Kroc visited a small restaurant in California. The owner of it was the McDonald (麦当劳) brothers. They built it by the road, so people could drive up to the restaurant, buy food without getting out of their cars and drive away easily. They called it “drive-in” restaurant.

Ray Kroc saw the bright future of the restaurant of this kind. He bought the restaurant and used the brothers’ family name for his new restaurant. The first McDonald’s restaurant chain (连锁店) was born.

Now there are more than 5,000 restaurants in the United States and in 60 other countries. The largest McDonald’s restaurant is in Beijing, China. It has 1,000 workers. About seven hundred people can sit and eat there at one time.

【推荐3】A young and successful manager was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar（捷豹）. He was watching for kids rushing out between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.

As his car passed a park, one child appeared, and a brick smashed（砸）into the Jaguar’s side door. He slammed on the brakes and drove the Jaguar back to the spot from where the brick had been thrown.

He jumped out of the car, grabbed some kid and pushed him up against a parked car, shouting, “What was that all about and who are you? What are you doing?” Building up a head of steam, he went on “That’s a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?”

“Please, sir, please, I’m sorry. I didn’t know what else to do!” begged the young-ster.

“It’s my brother,” he said. “He rolled off the curb（路边）and fell out of his wheel-chair and I can’t lift him up.”

Sobbing, the boy asked the executive, “Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He’s hurt and he’s too heavy for me.”

Moved beyond words, He lifted the young man back into the wheelchair and took out his handkerchief and wiped the scrapes and cuts, checking to see that everything was going to be okay.

“Thank you, sir. And God bless you,” the grateful child said to him. The man then watched the little boy push his brother to the sidewalk toward their home.

It was a long walk back to his Jnguar...a long, slow walk. He never did repair the side door. He kept the dent（凹痕）to remind him not to go through life so fast that some-one has to throw a brick at you to get your attention.

Life whispers in your soul and speaks to your heart. Sometimes,when you don’t have the time to listen...Life throws a brick at your head.
