A man has changed his 4x4 truck into a mobile travel home. Tim Johnson, 38, born in Alaska, had been using old truck to explore the country until last year when he bought a better one — a 1996 Ford F350.
After an unbelievable improvement, the truck can host six people, and it can hold two sofas, fridge, toilet, heating, DVD player, USB charging stations, under couch and so on. Tim said, “My truck house is perfect, it has everything I need to stay out for as long as I need.”
Most of the improvement work was carried out by Tim himself, who picked up DIY skills from his dad. He added, “My Dad builds custom cabins for a living and was self-taught in all of the trades and that’s who I learned my carpentry(木工手艺)and overall DIY skills from.”
He bought a classic Ford truck for just under£10,000 because he wanted to finally create his own dream truck house.
“I started improving it last year, fitted an airbag and improved the engine and turbo (涡轮增压), it took me a couple of months to finish,” he said. To build the house on the back of the truck cost another£10,000, pushing the overall total up to around£20,000.

Last summer my parents and I stayed in a tree house hotel in Costa Rica. It wasn’t my first time in a tree house because we had one in our yard (院子) when I was a child. But the hotel was bigger and more beautiful! I even met some people my age there and I often chat with them on the Net. I really want to go there again next summer.

I visited my friend, Sunil, in Kerala, India some years ago. He wanted to take me to a special hotel—a houseboat for two days. In the beginning, I didn’t want to go because I can’t swim. I finally went and my first time on a boat was great. The water was very calm, so I wasn’t afraid at all. The local (当地的) people were very friendly. However, the houseboat was not very comfortable. Houses are very different. Some are huge and have swimming pools. Pop stars live in those. Some are in rows with a brick wall at one end and overlook a pie factory. Franklin Gates lives in one of those, number three, Stanley Street, to be exact.
He loved living on Stanley Street. Everyone was friendly. All his friends were there and the smells from the pie factory! There was just one problem. Franklin’s mum and dad wanted to move. His mum was expecting twins and they needed another bedroom.
“I don’t mind sharing mine,” Franklin said. But his parents wouldn’t listen. “The house is too small,” said his mum.
Next day, there was a “___” sign stuck by Franklin’s door.
Franklin and his best friend Josh stared at the words. “What am I going to do, Josh?” said Franklin.
Josh said, “Has your house got problems? Number forty’s got problems and no one wants to buy it.”
Franklin stared at number forty. It looked all right to him. “What kind of problems?” he asked.“Oh, there were mice and the house was decorated with horrible wallpaper.”
Franklin sighed(叹息). His house was warm and friendly and it had just been painted, worse luck!
Mrs Cox lived next door to Franklin in a little house that had once been the corner shop. Just then, she came and said to Franklin,“I’m sorry you’re moving,” “So am I,” Franklin said.
“Never mind. Your house might take months to sell.”
For a week, it looked as if Mrs Cox was right. Only a few people came to look at the house and none of them wanted to buy it. Franklin’s mum looked worried. Upstairs, Franklin danced strangely, around with his underpants on his head. Maybe he was safe. Maybe no one would buy his house.
But a few days later — it must have been Thursday, because the smells from the pie factory were chicken — Franklin came home from school in the afternoon and found a man talking with his mum in the kitchen. His heart sank...
