Courage(勇气) is the ability to be brave in different kinds of situations(情形) in our life. Here and there, now and then, everyone needs courage to do something well. Courage may make you confident(自信) of your success. If you have courage, you won’t show fear in face of anything difficult or dangerous. With courage, you may still smile even if you are badly ill and know you are at the end of your life. How can we build up our courage?
Believe that you will be successful. Take chances and know that you have your own talents(天资). Besides, your family and friends are always there for you.

Fight to control your fear(害怕). Courageous people may still be afraid, but the difference is that they can control their fear. They don’t let it hold them back but use it as a reminder of what they can lose if they don’t go on.

The summer vacation often means happy hours with friends gathering and having an exciting tour. But it also can kill your willpower (意志力).You’re free to do whatever you want, relaxing and eating everything. This is especially true when you’re travelling and see different foods. You know the results—some more pounds (磅) at the end of the vacation.
To keep you from putting on weight, here are some tips:
Do sports regularly
If you have a big meal in the afternoon, spare some time for sports in the evening, basketball or badminton, for example.
Eat in time
While travelling, you may go for many hours without a chance to find food. That’s not good. Feeling “extremely” hungry will cause (导致) you to overeat as soon as you get the chance. So, take your own healthy snacks along. When hunger comes, you can enjoy them.
Drink a lot of water
Your body needs water to work well. Moreover, a stomach (胃) that is filled—even with just water—can lessen (减轻) the sense of hunger and help stop you from overeating.
Make the best of sightseeing tours
If the next attraction is within walking distance (距离), start walking. Too far? Ride a bicycle if possible so that you can stop wherever you like, and still burn off fat.
Enjoy your favourite foods—in moderation (适度)
Vacations are a time to relax. You needn’t say no to delicious food. You just shouldn’t eat a lot of it. Try cutting those large ones in half. Stay away from those attractive (有吸引力的) food. The farther away you are, the less attracted you’ll be.

Lisbon(里斯本) is one of the oldest capitals in Europe. It is on the west coast of Portugal(葡萄牙). Its rich history, colorful traditions and more modern attractions make it a fascinating city.
Anyone lucky enough to visit Lisbon will find a lot of things to see and do. You can start your tour from the Castle of Sao Jorge. The castle was built on a hill many years ago. When you stand on the top of the castle, you can enjoy a good view of the city. Then you can go to Alfama, which is the oldest part of Lisbon. Visitors can walk along its narrow streets where they can see fish sellers who are carrying baskets on their heads. The baskets look very heavy, but they can carry them easily.
Next, you can go to Baixa, a busy shopping area of the city. It offers plenty of handmade souvenirs and some wonderful clothes.
Lisbon’s nightlife is relaxing and different. Visitors can have a coffee in Bairro Alto, the ancient port of the city. You can enjoy traditional Portuguese music there. I’m one of those people who often joined in some class or other. I find that I do better in learning some topics in a classroom environment than on my own. Here are some skills that I highly recommend you to consider:
Writing: While improving your writing can sometimes just be a matter of practice, it’s very easy to create bad grammatical habits without a teacher’s guidance. You probably don’t need a degree (学位) in creative writing to help you with your work, but even a short class with a teacher who can review your work can make your written communications so much better.
A second language: Although there are many online courses to teach a second language, it’s certain that in-person instruction is effective. So why not take a class? Considering the increasing population of the US, as well as other countries, knowing a second language can make a world of difference, whether you’re working for a boss or you have your own business.
Emergency (突发事件) management: People with degrees in emergency management are having less difficulty finding jobs right now than other job hunters. That’s because the ability to deal with any kind of emergency properly is prized. Even a single first aid class can make a world a difference.
Shop class of any type: Many schools’ shop classes have ended, so it’s harder to learn the skills necessary to use tools, fix cars and deal with other common situations. Visiting the mechanics (技工) can be as good as having such classes. You can also get to learn how to use a number of tools without having to buy them all yourself.

But the easiest and cheapest way to improve your health is just to sleep eight hours or more every night. The general sleeping rule is that the younger you are, the longer sleep you need.
The problem with sleep is that more and more people in the world are not sleeping enough. The World Health Orientation (WHO) says, over half of the people in the world may be sleep-deprived (睡眼不足的). Having less sleep not only makes people feel tired but also causes accidents. In the United States alone, sleepy drivers cause at least 100, 000 traffic accidents a year.
Also, sleep problems can cause medical problems, such as high blood pressure.
Why are so many people sleep-deprived? Part of the reasons may be cultural. In the American culture, people put a higher value on work than on sleep. In fact, people who sleep a lot are usually seen as “lazy”. Also, you can sometimes hear some people say proudly that they don’t have much time to sleep. They only sleep four or five hours a night. It seems that the less you sleep, the more work you’ll do.
How do we teach these people to learn the value of sleep? Perhaps they may listen to the advice of Dr. James Maas, an expert in sleep. He says, “Sleep is like a credit (信用) card. When you sleep less, you are only borrowing time. You always have to pay it back. The more hours you don’t sleep, the more hours you should sleep to ‘pay back’ the hours on your ‘sleep credit card’. ”
For those who value work more than sleep, they should listen to what a famous person once said, “Don’t think you will be doing less work because you sleep during the night. That is a foolish idea which is held by people who have no imagination. You will be able to do more. ”
