Do you know the movie I, Robot? It tells us a story about the future.
The year is 2035 and robots are just as common as mobile phones. People depend on their robots to do lots of things, for example, babysitting, cooking, doing housework and taking their dogs for a walk. Robots have to obey (听从) human’s orders, because their designers(设计师) make them do so. A police officer called Spooner hates robots. He doesn’t think humans can get on well with their robots at all! But the scientist Susan has different opinions. Susan works on robots’ mind and she thinks one day robots will become more powerful(强大的) than humans and help humans to make progress(进步) .
When Spooner and Susan work together, they find that something is wrong with the world’s robots. A few robots have their own thoughts and they’re trying to get out of humans’ control(控制)! Of course, these robots’ dream doesn’t come true. Humans work hard to control their robots again and they succeed at last.

I went to the SAIC-GM Pavilion (上汽集团通用汽车馆). I found my dream car there. It is a green car. Its name is “Leaf”. Chinese engineers made the car. Its roof is in the shape of a leaf. The roof takes in CO2 and changes it intoelectricityfor the car.
The Japan Pavilion is full of high technology. The “Wonder Camera” is cool. It can find a smiling face in a crowd. When you’re smiling, it takes a photo of you. I want to invent something like that in the future.
My favorite pavilion is the Germany Pavilion. I watched the Energy Source show. Visitors made a ball swing back and forth (来回摇摆) by using only their voices. It’s amazing! Although we had waited for quite a long time before we entered the hall, I think it is well worth seeing with your own eyes.
I like painting, so my parents took me to the France Pavilion to see the famous paintings. But the French cooks caught my eye. I saw them cook. My mom told me that they are some of the best cooks in the world. The dish they cooked looked like a painting. So, being a cook is my second dream job.

People in Dubai(迪拜) are very lucky, because they can travel in the self-flying air taxi very soon. The egg-shaped air taxi, named the Ehang 184, is made in China. It can travel for up to 30 minutes with a person that weighs up to 100kg. It can reach a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour. What’s more, it only takes two hours to charge(充电) the Ehang 184 fully.
To call for a flying taxi, passengers need to enter their destination(目的地) into a mobile app. The flying taxi then sets the flight plan and takes the passenger to his destination.
Dubai isn’t the first city to show an interest in using the flying car. New York City has started testing the flying car Transition for public use. Transition is a two-seat airplane that runs on gas. What will our life be like in 50 years? No one knows the answer exactly, but we are sure that it will be very different from the life today. My brother Jill White makes some predictions. Here are some of his ideas.
First, people will have less work to do, and robots will do most work. People will use robots to make cars, do the housework, look after sick people and teach students. People will spend most of their time playing sports and traveling. So people will become stronger and healthier, and they will live to be about 200 years old.
Second, cars will become very small and computers will control their speed. So there will be fewer accidents on the road. Planes will be very popular, and most people would like to take them to travel.
Third, people will be able to live in the sea, on the moon or on Mars. The earth won't be crowded or noisy. So there will be much space for people to plant trees. There will be less pollution, and the air will become much fresher.
Finally, water shortage will become one of the most serious problems. If people don't save water now, there will be water wars(战争)in 50 years.

Jack sighed (叹气) and threw his windpack (风包) by the front door. He kicked off his shoes and walked into the kitchen.
“I had to walk the whole 3 miles home from school today!” said Jack.
“Why did you have to walk?” Grandpa asked. “What’s wrong with your windpack?”
“The compressor (压缩机) is broken again. Windpacks are so much work.” he complained to Grandpa. “I wish they’d create something that easier to take care of.”
Grandpa smiled. “Jack, you don’t know how easy and clean windpacks are compared to cars.”
“You never actually had a car, did you, Grandpa?” Jack asked. “I thought those were no longer in use before you were old enough to have one of your own.”
Grandpa pulled a small, thin photo card out of his wallet and said: “I bought my car around 2025. ”
“That’s nearly 50 years ago!” cried Jack.
Grandpa took out a color photo of himself as a young man. He stood proudly next to a huge dark red vehicle (车辆). “This kind of car was called a truck.” Grandpa told Jack.
“Tell me again what made them run.” Jack said.
“Gas (汽油),” answered Grandpa. “The world is a much cleaner place without it,” he added. In the last 50 years, pollution has been cut down by 75%. I am certain that you and I will both live longer because of it.
Jack was quiet for a moment. “Grandpa, I guess windpacks aren’t as much of a pain as I sometimes think they are.”

Your emotions can be influenced by your personality (个性), by the actions of others and by events around you. Perhaps you don’t know your emotions can be influenced by the weather as well.
People often say they feel good when the sun is shining and sad when it is cloudy. In fact, sunlight makes us feel good. When sunlight hits our skins, our bodies produce a vitamin(维生素). Vitamins are natural chemicals which we all need to stay healthy. Sunlight helps our bodies produce vitamin D. Vitamin D helps our bodies make a special chemical. This special chemical influence our brains and makes us feel happy. For example, there are long, dark winters of little sunlight in Sweden and Norway, so many people in these countries often feel sad. Without much sunlight, their bodies produce less vitamin D. Without enough vitamin D, their bodies make less ofthis special chemical which makes them feel good. To help the people in these countries feel better, special“sunrooms”with man-made lights have been built. People can go there and get “sunlight” for an hour or two.
The weather can also influence people’s emotions in other ways. Hot weather can make people angry because people feel uncomfortable when they are hot. In the same way, rain can make people angry because being wet can be unpleasant. As you can see, the weather can have an effect on the chemicals which control our brains. Through these ways, the weather can influence our emotions. Sadly, while the weather can change us, we can hardly change the weather.

Some choose a vegetarian diet because they believe killing animals is wrong. People who care about their health see it as a good way to keep fit and lower their risk of many illnesses. Lately, more people are having vegetables instead of meat because being vegetarians plays an important role in protecting the environment.
②For further research, researchers from China gave a report about the influence of eating behavior on the environment. It showed that meat consumption is one of the main ways that humans can harm the environment, second only to the use of cars. But how can changing our diets make a difference? We can compare the amount of water needed to produce meat and crops (农作物). For example, we need almost 20,000 liters (升) of water to produce a kilo of beef, but only about 150 liters of water are needed to produce a kilo of crops. It’s clear that we can make better use of land and water if we produce crops instead of meat.
③Feeding animals for food also leads to the rise of global temperatures. Animals such as cows, pigs and sheep give out a lot of greenhouse gas (温室气体).
④There are more and more people who support being vegetarians. For example, schools across many parts of the world hold “Meat Free Mondays” to show how easy it is to eat less meat. Some people go one step further and eat vegetables only all the time. Just being a vegetarian for one day a week or just eating less meat can go a long way.
