Open an App, place your order, and wait for your food to be delivered(递送)to your home— this is how many people eat in China these days. According to the latest data from the China Internet Network Information Center, 421 million Chinese people use online food delivery services. That’s equal to half of the total number of Internet users in China.
Which group of people is ordering food online the most? Unsurprisingly, its mainly young people. A recent report that was jointly(联合)published by the China Hospitality Association and Meituan, a food delivery service, showed that 86.3 percent of the service’s users are between 20 and 34 years old. These people, who are more likely to live in small families are the major force driving the development of the food delivery industry.
Small families depend greatly on food delivery services. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Chinese families have changed in size over the past decade. In 2002, only 7.7 percent of families were single-person households. But this number increased to 15. 6 percent in 2017.The percentage of two-person families rose from 18.4 in 2002 to 27.2 in 2017. For small families, cooking is relatively more time and resource-consuming(耗时耗材), so ordering food online has become more popular.
The improvement of China’s food delivery services has also attracted more customers. According to Meituan’s report, the average time it takes to make a food delivery dropped from 38 minutes in 2016 to 29 minutes in 2019. Many delivery platforms are also offering more services, and delivering products such as fruit, vegetables, medicine and flowers. As its services continue to improve, it’s likely that the food delivery industry will keep growing.

Tourists(旅游者) can never find it! I think that this restaurant’s food is the best in the whole country. I like to go to this restaurant every two weeks. The waiters know me very well now. They are my friends. They know what my favourite drink is, so when I arrive, there is always a bottle of Coke on the table. The menu changes every week so there is always something different to eat. My favourite meat is chicken, so I always order something with chicken in it. For dessert(甜食), I often have apple pie with custard(蛋奶沙司) or chocolate cake. Delicious!

In Western restaurants, the menus are usually very descriptive(描述的). They tell you what is in each dish. They also tell you how those dishes are cooked. For example, the menu might tell you that a burger has cheese and ketchup(苦番茄). You can also know if a dish is fried or steamed.
Chinese menus don’t usually tell you these things. But you can see a lot of pictures in them. Most Western restaurant menus do not have as many pictures as Chinese ones. In some good Western restaurants, the menus might not have any pictures at all.
The names of Chinese dishes are usually not very descriptive. Disanxian is a pretty-sounding(好听的)name. However, it doesn’t tell you anything about this dish. But with a picture, you can tell what’s in this dish. This dish has potatoes, green peppers and eggplant.
Having more photos also makes the menus more attractive to people. It can make you feel good about eating in the restaurant.

Some statistics from the survey done by the European Commission showed that 62% of the British people only speak English. 38 % speak at least one foreign language and 18 % speak two or more. Compared with the British people, 56% of the people in other European countries speak at least one foreign language and 28 % speak two or more. From this you can see that the British people are famous for not speaking foreign languages and that they are not good language learners in Europe.
And the survey also showed that English is the most widely-spoken foreign language. Many European people can have a conversation in English. That’s why many people don’t think there is need to learn a foreign language.
In Britain, students are not required to learn a foreign language. That means learning a foreign language is only a choice at school. In UK schools it is common for children to start learning a foreign language at 11 and many of them give up at 14. So why don’t students continue learning foreign languages at school? Because they think it is more difficult to get good marks in languages than in other subjects such as science or history.
To solve this situation, the British government is looking for different ways to improve language learning at school. One way is to start learning it at a much younger age. Another one is to give school children more choices.
Changing the British attitude(态度)to learning foreign languages may be a hard task but the government decides to try!

When do we realize that we need to change diets? When none of our shirts and jeans would fit us. When do we stop eating candies and chocolates? When all of our teeth have fallen off. When do we realize that we need to stop smoking? When our lungs(肺) have gone bad. We see the warning signs and signals when things get difficult. As we know, it is not easy to change, but change becomes more painful when we ignore(忽视) it.
Change will happen, like it or hate it. At one point or another, we are all going to finally unlock our self-improvement power not because the world says so, but because we realize it’s good for us.
Happy people don’t just accept change, they embrace(拥抱) it. Unlocking our self-improvement power means unlocking ourselves out of the box of thought that is just the way we are.
Self-improvement may not be easy. ① However, if we look at things in different ways, we might have greater chances of enjoying the whole process (过程)instead of counting the days until we are fully improved. ② So please take action right now. Three times in a week at the gym(健身房)would result in a healthier life. ③ Smiling every day would make us happier. When we are enjoying the whole process of unlocking our self-improvement power, we’re beginning to change and become happy. ④

Robots are smart because they have computer brains. Some of them have explored other planets. These machines also do many jobs in factories and other places. For example, robots are used to make cars. People also use robots to do dangerous work such as exploring volcanoes (火山) or the ocean floor.
