Adult (成年的) drivers listen to music on the car radio as they drive to work. They also listen to the news about sports, the weather, and the life of American people. Most of the radio programs are music.
Pop or popular music singers make much money. They make a CD or tape which radio stations use in many places. Once the popular singer is heard all over the country, young people buy his or her tape. Some of the money from these tapes comes to the singer. Wherever the singer goes, all the young people want to meet him or her. Now the singer has become a national star.
There are other kinds of music that are important to Americans. One is folk (民间) music. It tells stories about the common (普通) life of Americans. Another is western or country music. This was started by cowboys who would sing at night to the cows they were watching. He spent three days writing a story on 83 pages with a lot of pictures. The story is about how he gets back safely in time after a star on his Christmas tree explodes(爆炸).
But he couldn’t publish(出版)it because he was just a little kid. So when his grandmother took him to a library at the end of December, he put his book onto a shelf quietly and tried to make no one find what he did. The book was called The Adventures of’s Crismis. It was so popular that 66 people were on the waiting list to borrow it by the end of January.
Here’s how it happened:
The night after Dale left his book on the library shelf, he came clean to his parents. So his parents called the library, thinking they could pick up the book from the lost and found. But the librarians (workers in the library) loved the book so much and Mr. Hartman, the manager of the library said, “It is worth a place on our library shelves. It’s a good story.” The librarians entered(录入)the book in their catalog system(图书馆目录系统).
As for the spelling and grammar mistakes in the book, “I would say those mistakes would be a lot,” he said.
For example, in “Chapter 1,” Dale writes, “One day in wintr, it wus Crismis!”
Now publishers want to publish the book. The librarians also plan to make more copies of the book. “We hope that other kids are encouraged by Dale to share their stories,” Mr. Hartman said.

The train trip was fast and the views of the countryside were amazing. Now 1 am in Salzburg, Austria. The quiet hills of Austria are a great place to relax. The movie The Sound of Music was filmed around this area. Mozart, the famous musician, was from here. I listened to some of his classical music.
The train ride to Amsterdam was a long one. It gave me time to write some postcards to send back home. Amsterdam is a fun city, full of friendly locals and many tourists. I spent the whole day visiting the art museums here. The museum about the famous Dutch artist Van Gogh is filled with history and beautiful art. I took a boat ride and saw local people in traditional dress. I even got to taste some delicious Dutch cheese.
Copenhagen, Denmark, is one of the safest places in the world. I spent a busy and nice day at the Tivoli Amusement Park. It is a huge park which even has concerts and dance shows. Hans Christian Anderson, a famous writer of children's books, was born in this city. I found a lovely bookshop and bought two of his fairy tale books, The Little Mermaid and The Ugly Duckling.
