Are you the only child in your family? Do you want to have more sisters and brothers? On May 31, China introduced a new policy(政策)that allows every family to have up to three children. This was done to fight China’s aging problem. But different children have different views on the policy.
12-year-old Zhao Zhihan from Beijing said, “It might be hard to have three children for a family that doesn’t have enough money. Imagine a couple who have to not only raise three children, but also care for four seniors(老人). They would have to work really hard to support the family. If I lived in a family like this as a child, I would feel worried.”
Liu Yifei, a 13-year-old from Taiyuan, Shanxi, is the only child in her home and doesn’t want any brothers or sisters. “I’m very sensitive and I worry that my parents will pay less attention to me if they have another child.”
Li Jinyan, a 14-year-old from Lanzhou, Gansu, likes the idea. She already has a younger brother and she wants to have a sister as well. “I’m a girl, so I think a sister would understand me better. And I won’t feel lonely and when I am sad, there’s always someone cheering me up. I often play sports together with my brother. If we could have a new family member, we could make a team! A few thousand years later, Lu Yu, "the saint of tea", mentioned Shen Nong in his book Cha Jing. The book describes how tea plants were grown and used to make tea.
Nowadays, according to different processing ways, there are mainly four kinds of Chinese tea. They are green tea, black tea, Oolong tea and scented (有香味的) tea. without fermentation (发酵), green tea keeps the original color of the tea. If the green tea is fermented before baking, it will be black tea. Oolong tea is partially (部分的) fermented. And if fragrant flowers are mixed in the tea during the processing the scented tea will be made.
Tea is produced in many different areas in China. For example, Xi'an and Hangzhou are widely known for their tea. Tea plants are grown on the sides of mountains. When the leaves are ready, they are picked by hand and then are sent for processing. Later, the tea is packed and sent for many different countries and places around China.
It's believed that tea was brought to Korea and Japan during the 6th and 7th centuries. In England, tea didn't appear until around 1660. The tea trade from China to Western countries took place in the 19th century.
Tea is good for people's health and plays an important role in Chinese social life.

Live-streaming(直播) has become very popular in China.
However, some children are spending too much money on live-stream platforms. Earlier this year, a 17-year-old boy in Jingmen, sent tips that added up to 150,000 yuan to a host.
To prevent things like this from happening again, the National Radio and Television Administration introduced a new regulation(规定) on Nov. 23 to better manage live-streaming services. The regulation bans children from tipping or sending gifts to live-stream hosts and performers.
“Online shows and live-streaming have become so popular. I always feel worried that my son might become addicted to(沉迷于) them or do something that is harmful to his growth,” said Wang Haifeng, a mother of a 15-year-old boy in Beijing. “
In addition, there are some other measures to help manage live-streaming services. For example, live-streaming platforms will be required to put a limit on how much money people can send to live-streamers. Once the limit is reached, viewers will not be able to send gifts or tips.
Other regulations include stopping live-streaming platforms from encouraging viewers to send gifts or tips.

Zhong Kaitong, a fourth-grader from Guangzhou, enjoyed a fun vacation this summer. Instead of attending English or math training courses, she played badminton and basketball most of the time.
A new guideline introduced by central authorities (中央政府) on July 24 helped Zhong enjoy some free time during the summer. Aiming to ease (减少) the schoolwork burden on primary and junior high school students, the guideline calls for reducing homework, improving the quality of education and regulating after-class activities,
According to the guideline, children below the third grade will not have homework anymore. It should take no more than 90 minutes for junior high school students to finish their homework.
Off-campus tutoring institutions (校外培训机构) are not allowed to offer overseas education courses or advanced (超前的) teaching. No subject-based (基于学科的) training will be allowed on weekends, national holidays or during winter and summer vacations.
More than 75 percent of children in Chinese cities from grades 1 to 12 are taking private tutoring courses, Global Times reported.
“Parents are worried that if their children start behind, they will stay behind. Some training institutions have taken advantage of parents’ anxieties to make money,” said Chen Xianzhe, a professor at South China Normal University. “The guideline is meant to calm the anxieties of parents and society as a whole.”
“But this does not mean the tutoring courses will completely disappear, since exams still exist,” said Chu Zhaohui, a senior researcher at the National Institute of Education Sciences.
“Therefore, schools should improve their education quality, take the main responsibility for students’ education and not push them into tutoring courses,” Chu added.

When you are happy, the world feels like a better place. As the saying goes: When you smile, the world smiles with you; when you cry, you cry alone. Wearing a smile will make you more charming and help you to win lots of friends. A good mood always gives you hope, which makes trouble and problems easier to handle.
No matter how happy you are, it’s normal to feel angry, sad or gloomy once in a while. Life is full of ups and downs. We can’t change the way life is, but we can do our best to change a bad situation into a good one. To help us do this, it’s good to know some of the factors (因素) that influence happiness.
One of the biggest factors is social relationships. People who are close to family and friends are happier than people who don’t have those relationships. Talking and sharing is a good way to relax and build confidence. Knowing someone is there for you will make you braver and more outgoing.
Another factor is work or school. If you enjoy school, even if you have lots of homework or extra classes, you will still feel that your school life is meaningful and happy. But if you hate school, your negative attitude may cause you to feel bored and upset that you have to do so much work.
A third factor is your attitude towards life. How do you feel if you fail in an exam? Maybe you think it’s unfair because you always study hard and should get a good mark. You can’t stop blaming yourself. Or, maybe you accept it. You go through the paper carefully, find out why you made stupid mistakes, and tell yourself, “Take it easy! I’ll do better next time!” Your attitude makes a big difference.
1. The underlined word “charming” probably means ________.A.amazing | B.attractive | C.ashamed | D.awful |

C.We usually go upstairs and downstairs in life. | D.We spend neither happy nor angry time in life. |

C.What factors influence happiness. | D.How to make our own happiness. |

So how? The cars have sensors (感应器) all around which can find other cars and objects in the road. Road signs are read by cameras, and satellite navigation systems (卫星导航系统) are used so the car knows how to get where you want to go. All you have to do is type in the address! Finally, a central computer system takes in all the information that it receives from the sensors and cameras and works out when to speed up, stop and turn.
Sound like your idea of heaven (天堂)? Siting back, looking out of the windows and even watching a worry about remembering directions to where you’re going. In addition, computers would also drive more safely than people—they would obey the rules and have quicker action times when in dangerous situations.
However, there are many drawbacks (缺点) of driverless cars. Computers would have difficulties making cthical (道德的) decisions: if a child ran into the road, would the computer choose to hit the child or turn suddenly and potentially kill the car’s passengers? Moreover, I personally find driving fun—I’d miss never driving a car myself, There would also be many other decisions to be made—should children, or drunk people, be allowed in a driverless car by themselves? Or would there need to be a person with a driving license in the car at all times?
I’m not certain I’d want a driverless car—but it’s only a matter of time before they’ll become more affordable and popular on our roads.
1. When using a driverless car, you need only .A.read the road signs carefully | B.check the cameras |
C.put the address into the computer | D.remember the directions |
A.instructions | B.standards | C.advantages | D.tests |
A.possibly | B.successfully | C.especially | D.naturally |
A.They’ll cause more accidents. | B.They’ll be less expensive. |
C.They’ll use less energy. | D.They’ll run much faster. |
