There’s a new AI robot: ChatGPT, and you’d better pay attention, even if you aren’t into artificial intelligence(人工智能). The tool is an AI chat robot system that OpenAI, a company, invented in November 2022 to show off and test what a very large, powerful AI system can achieve.

ChatGPT remembers the key information of your dialogue, using earlier questions and answers to form its next reply quickly. It gets its answers from plenty of information on the Internet. ChatGPT is built on top of the OpenAI GPT-3 family of large language models and is fine-tuned (a method of exchange learning).

Perhaps it’s not smart enough to replace all humans yet, but it can be creative, and its answers can sound pretty excellent. A few days after its use, more than 1 million people were trying out ChatGPT. UBS analyst Lloyd Walmsley said in February 2023 that ChatGPT reached 100 million monthly users in January, realizing in 2 months, while TikTok spent about 9 months and Instagram needed two and a half years.

ChatGPT is free to use at the moment because it is still in its research period. But when too many people use the server(服务器), it can’t process your request. It just means you should try visiting the website at a later time when fewer people are trying to use it. Because of it, on Feb.1, 2023, OpenAI has a ChatGPT new plan, ChatGPT Plus, which allows users to have better experiences even during the busiest time. This service does come at a cost of $20/month.

ChatGPT has limited knowledge because of its programming but Google has unlimited knowledge which is updated(更新) every day.

【推荐2】Maybe you are an average (一般的)student. You probably think you will never be a top student. However, anyone can become a better student if he or she does his or her best.

Here is my advice.

Plan your time carefully. You should plan your time for such things as eating, sleeping and dressing. Then make a good regular time for studying. Don’t forget to set enough time for tests.

Keep your study quiet and clean. The study should have a desk, a chair and some study materials, but no games, no radio and no television! When you sit down to study, you can put your heart into it. Make good use of your time.

Listen to everything that the teacher says. Listening carefully in class means less work later. Taking notes will help you remember what the teacher says.

Develop a good attitude(态度)to tests. The purpose(目的)of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. It helps you know what you are not good at. The world will still go on even if you fail in a test, so don’t be too worried.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了一名记者给作者学校学生做了一份报告,告知如何给2022年中国冬季奥运会写报道的相关知识和常识。

【推荐3】The 2022 Winter Olympics is coming! How would you report it if you were a young journalist?

On Oct 22, Chen Wenjie from TEENS came to our school and gave us a talk on how to write a good news story. It helps us write news reports about the Winter Olympics.

First, she told us some basic information, such as the differences between hard news (硬新闻) and soft news (软新闻). She also talked about how to make the news more eye-catching-we can use at tractive headlines or funny illustrations (插图), and we need to choose interesting angles (角度) to write the story.

With this knowledge, I thought about how to report the Winter Olympics. For example, if I want to report news about skiing, I can interview some skiers who are preparing for the Winter Olympics. I can ask them how hard they practice every day, and what their goals are for the Winter Olympics. If I can find a foreign athlete, I can also ask them about their trip to China. Do they like Chinese food? Do they enjoy traveling in Chinese cities? Their experiences may provide us with many new angles about this event.

The last step, as Chen said, is to organize the content we have interviewed into an article. The first sentence should be interesting enough to attract the readers. And there should be many details in the article. You can also make an outline (提纲) before writing.

Students benefited (得益于) a lot from the speech. Student Cao Yizou said, “How to tell good stories is a very important skill. Even if I may not become a reporter, it will be useful for writing in the future.”
