Dogs are the best pets of humans. They come in all sizes. Some dogs are as small as a football, and others are as tall as a desk. Dogs’ fur(毛) is different, too. It can be long and soft, or smooth and hard. People don’t mind the kind of fur, because all dogs are good to hug.
Dogs need to be taken care of. Short-haired dogs are the easiest to look after. But all dogs need a bath once in a while. Giving a dog a bath is a lot of fun. After you give a bath to your dog, it shakes the water off its body. Be careful, or you will get wet!
Dogs like to make their owners(主人) happy, so dogs are easy to train. They can follow simple orders.
Dogs are really amazing animals. Some dogs pull sleds(雪橇) across icy places. Some save people who fall into the river. Other dogs do tricks(表演绝技) in movies. A dog has even flown in a rocket(火箭) to space.

Many parents like setting family rules for their kids. When kids break the rules, parents will give them punishment. In fact, when you tell your kids about a new rule, you should talk with them about the price they should pay for breaking the rule—what the punishment will be.
The punishment you set should be reasonable(合理的), without violence or threat(威胁). For example, if you find your son smoking, you may limit(限制)his social activities for two weeks. You should punish your kids only in ways you have discussed before the rule is broken. A study shows that the most popular punishment is to limit kids’ TV time.
It’s understandable that you’ll be angry when rules are broken. Punishment is a way to express your anger, but it’s not a very good one. Sharing your feelings of anger, disappointment or sadness with your kids can have a better effect on them. Try to do that. When your kids know what they have done has made you angry, they will feel sorry. When they know their actions influence you greatly, they will follow the rules better.
Family rules are made to help your kids behave better. If your rules or ways of punishment make them unhappy or under a lot of pressure, are they helpful?

We often dine out with others, but do you know some basic etiquette(礼节)? If you behave well at the table, it will make your partners happy. But if you don't know how to behave yourself, you will feel embarrassed. Here are some tips for the table etiquette.
When helping a woman pull her chair to the table, hold it and guide it. Don't shove(碰撞)it against the back of her legs. If you're seated at a table with eight or fewer guests, wait for everyone to be served and for the hostess(女主人)to begin eating before you dig in. At a long banquet table, it's OK to start when several people are seated and served.
If you prefer not to have wine while dining out, don't turn your glass upside down, and don't make a big deal of saying you don't drink. Simply place your fingertips on the rim(边缘)of the glass and say “Not today, thanks.”
When you excuse yourself to go to the restroom, just say “Please excuse me.”
When out with friends or family—even at a fancy restaurant—it's OK to ask for your leftovers(吃剩的饭菜)to be wrapped. But don't do it at a business lunch or dinner.

In the modern world, people have to remember passwords (密码) for everything from their email, to online banking and internet shopping.
So it’s easy to understand that many of us would pick (选择) something simple and easy for our passwords.
A leaked (泄露的) Yahoo database (数据库) showed that the most popular passwords are still “123456” and “password”. Easy ones like “qwerty” and “abc123” are also among the top 10, reported the Daily Mail. Other top passwords include “welcome”, “sunshine” and “ninja”. Many more used simple combinations (组合) of their name, age, or birthday.
These people are trying to make life easy for themselves. But they are also making it easy for hackers (黑客) to break into their accounts, experts warned.
Researchers from UK’s Lancaster University as well as Peking and Fujian Normal universities in China, did a test on passwords. They tried to guess passwords based on people’s different personal information.
They guessed passwords for more than 73 percent of ordinary users’ accounts. Hackers could even break a third of the harder passwords in 100 guesses, reported the Daily Mail.
So how can you make your passwords safer? Researchers from Bloom berg Business week have some tips for you.
Upper-casing (大写) your password is a good start. Adding numbers and/or symbols to your password can also be of great help. Choose a nine-letter password that includes numbers and/or symbols. This would take a hackers computer hundreds of years to break! Never use personal information as a password. Use different passwords for different accounts (账户). Experts suggest that a user should change their password every 90 days to keep hackers guessing.

Of the 90 million pet cats in this country, about two-thirds are allowed to go outside. It is said that these cats kill hundreds of millions of birds each year, as well as billions of small animals such as rabbits and field mice.
They can also bring illness to the animals that live in people’s yard(院子), further weakening the health of the natural populations.
Allowing pet cats to go outside is not just bad for birds and wildlife, it’s also bad for the cats themselves. Outdoor cats can get sick very easily. They are in danger from traffic and attacks(攻击) from other animals. In fact, outdoor cats usually don’t live past the age of five, while indoor cats often live to be 17 or older.
Keep your pet cat inside! If you raise a young cat, it’s your duty to let it play inside.
