On January 14, a dance show entitled “Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting”(只此青绿)was staged at Chongqing Grand Theater, to show respect to the famous painting “A Panorama of Mountain and River”(千里江山图), by Wang Ximeng, a genius painter from the Northern Song Dynasty. It became a great success judging from the comments of the audience, many of whom traveled a long distance from neighboring regions to experience the beauty of the dance show.
When modern people meet a Northern Song young painter.
The “poetic dance” brings people the inner world of the ancient painter Wang Ximeng from the view of a modern researcher of the Palace Museum who unfolds the painting scroll, making the audience lost in the charm of legendary traditional Chinese artwork.
According to Xie Suhao, who plays the character, it is not to tell people how great the painting is, but to guide people into an immersive(沉浸式的)and exciting experience of the painting and the traditional Chinese culture. The dancers also hope to create a sincere performance to show respect to the cultural relics protection workers who have made great effort to protect ancient artworks.
A rewarding experience for the performers of the poetic dance.
Which kind of body language can express the characters most correctly? According to Zhang Han, who plays the character of Wang Ximeng, to capture the essence of painting Wang Ximeng in a natural, lively way, he went to a teacher expert in Chinese blue-green landscape painting to learn how to draw “A Panorama of Mountains and Rivers”. From line drawing to coloring, he gradually felt a stronger and deeper connection with the character. “Sometimes, I failed to get myself out of the character and just cannot stop crying. Such immersive experiences make me even more deeply respect the character,” said Zhang Han.
As Ximeng painted in the center, more characters appeared on the stage, presenting a painting that starts with and ends in charming shades of blue and green. Thus, “A Panorama of Mountains and Rivers” painting has been given a new lease of life.

Cinyee Chiu, an artist from Taiwan, is always happy to try something new. Her amazing works won lots of prizes. Among them, the “24 Solar Terms(节气)” is the most popular.
Ancient Chinese divided a year into 24 parts according to the changes of the weather. It’s the 24 solar terms. But not everyone knows them well. Cinyee Chiu put the 24 solar terms in pictures to help people understand them better.
Cinyee turned each solar term into an animal. But these animals are not just animals. You can also find seasonal fruits, vegetables or beautiful flowers on them.
When spring comes, water gets warm and fish start to swim around. So Cinyee chose fish as a symbol of Start of Spring. Also, she drew spring vegetables, Chinese chives on the back of the fish.
White Dew(露珠)falls on about September 8. It shows the beginning of the cool autumn. There are colorful leaves and cooler nights at the time of year. As the temperature falls, white dew is often seen on the grass and trees at night. For White Dew, Cinyee chose a raccoon—a small animal with thick hair. Researchers did a study to test their idea that teaching improves the one’s learning because it forces the teacher to retrieve (检索) what they’ve learned, which leads to deeper and longer-lasting acquisition (获得) of that information than spending more time re-studying.
They asked 124 students to spend ten minutes studying a text. They told the students they could take notes while studying, but would teach the material afterwards without notes. After studying the text, the students were divided into four groups. In one group the students spent five minutes giving a lesson on the study material without notes. The other groups either spent the same time answering the questions, teaching with a script (讲稿) or writing down all they could remember from the text-a form of recalling practice. A week later, all the students took a surprise test of their knowledge and understanding of the text.
The important finding is that the teaching-without-notes group and the recalling-practice group performed better than the group that answered the questions and the group that taught with a script. The researchers said the result shows that the benefits of the learning-by-teaching method are caused by recalling practice;that is, the learning-by-teaching method works only when the teaching includes recalling the taught materials.
The new findings have a practical suggestion for how the learning-by-teaching method is used in education. In order to make sure that students learn and remember an educational material, they should internalize (内化) the material before presenting it to others, rather than depend on notes during the presentation process.

To build up speed, people usually practice with a stand—in opponent a dummy made of wood. Besides, Wing Chun also needs people to be flexible (灵活的) and soft while building up strength to fight back.
