【推荐1】Some scientists are working on something new. It is a machine that can give blind people a new way to read. Soon, the blind may be able to read almost everything.

The machine is called the Finger Reader. It looks like a ring. It can scan words and then the small computer in it will read the words out loudly. It works more quickly than any other reading machine.

It was not easy to make the Finger Reader. The scientists came up with different ways and tried many times. It took them three years to make it. Many blind people helped to test the machine. Jerry Berrier, a 63-year old man, was one of them. He was born blind. He likes the Finger Reader because it's small. It can be used anywhere.

However, the Finger Reader is not ready for sale now. The scientists still need to improve it because it can't work with smartphones. The Finger Reader can read books, magazines, newspapers and computer screens, but it has problems reading a touch screen.

About 285 million people in the world have vision problems. The scientists believe that many of them may want to buy one if the Finger Reader comes into the market.

Everyone knows that reading is important, but have you ever asked yourself why that is so? In this post, I will list out 5 reasons why reading is important.

    1     Reading does help you form a better you, doesn’t it? Though reading, you begin to understand the world more. Though reading, you begin to have a greater understanding on a topic that interests you; for example: how to build self-confidence, how to make plan better before taking action, and how to memorize things better and more.

    2     The more you read, the more you understand one thing: the A to Z of a thing. It can also help you find out the truth of something, right? Reading also increases the understanding of the rules of life. To play well in a game, you first need to understand the rules well.

    3     Before you take action on anything, reading is a starting step of many things. For example, read about how to cook a meal; how to play chess; which place is nice for the holiday family trip; read the menu before ordering food. These all can help you become more prepared before you really get into it.

    4     When you are reading, you are actually gaining the knowledge and experience of someone. Life is too short for you to keep repeating the mistakes that had been done by other people in the past, in order for you to reach the results that someone might have already reached. Reading is a great path to get to know and learn from these great people.

    5     Reading connects you with the world. If you don’t read, you won’t understand what people are taking about out there, including understanding what this article is all about. As you understand more, you can communicate better with people.

Once there was a businessman who was really deep in debt (负债) and could see no way out.

One day, he sat down in the park, thinking how he could save his company. Suddenly, an old man appeared, sat down next to him and said, “I can see that something is troubling you.” The businessman was very sad, so he told the old man everything about his company. The businessman realized that with half a million he could easily solve his problems, but instead of using it, he decided to put that check in his safe (保险箱). With the check, the businessman felt more confident. He started rebuilding his business and worked really hard. After only a few months, the businessman was out of debt and making money once again.

Exactly one year later, the old man also appeared. But just as the businessman was about to hand back the check, a nurse caught the old man and said, “I have got you!” The nurse returned to the man and said, “I hope he has not caused you any trouble; he always runs out of our hospital secretly and tells people he is Warren Buffett.” Then the nurse said goodbye and left with the old man.
