In the summer of my eleventh year, my home was burned down in the middle of the night. Luckily, my parents, brothers and I escaped(幸免于难) along with our dogs. Yet, we had nothing but the night clothes we were sleeping in. I spent the rest of that night with a friend. I lay in the bed but I was too scared to fall asleep.
The next day my mom's friend brought me a Tshirt and a pair of jeans. The Tshirt was short and the jeans were long, but I didn’t care. At least I had some clothes again. My dad returned to our old house to see what he could find. But the only thing he could save was my mom’s ring.
As the summer days went on, my dad was able to rent(租用) us a small house. It was not far from our old house. On the day we moved in, our friends and neighbors donated(捐赠) many things to us kindly. There was food, clothes, money and even some books for me to read. Love was around us.
Looking back now I'm thankful for what we went through that summer. I learned so much about life, love and people. Now I know love is the most important thing. When you have nothing left but love, for the first time you see that love is enough.
