As teenagers, we grow quickly. In just one or two years, a well-fitting set of uniforms may become too small for us. Many of our old uniforms, when we go to throw them away, are actually still wearable. This is a big waste. If there is a program for us to share our old uniforms, we can cut down on that waste. This is very good for the environment. With a uniform sharing program, we can also save lots of money.
Some parents in Hangzhou have put this idea into practice. They have set up an online uniform sharing platform.
But I think there are still a few problems that need to be worked out before we start setting up more platforms like this. Firstly, not all old uniforms are suitable to be shared. Clothes such as coats and sweaters can be easily cleaned up and shared. But personally, I don’t welcome the idea of sharing summer clothes like T-shirts. There should be a standard for the types of clothing that can be shared. Secondly, students should be allowed to decide for themselves whether they wish to share or accept old uniforms. Perhaps we can form a uniform committee(委员会). Students who need old uniforms can post a message, and those who have suitable uniforms to share can contact them directly.

A fever—defined as an increase in body temperature over 37.3℃—is a common sign of illness. Whatever the cause is, here are some things you should remember if you develop a fever. 1 .
Don’t drink certain drinks. Alcohol, soda and caffeinated (含咖啡因的) drinks should be avoided when you have a fever. They can cause your body to lose water when it really needs a lot.
2 . If you feel too warm, this can influence the body’s ability to regulate (调节) its temperature and make your fever worse.
You shouldn’t double your medicines. Although fever-reducing medicines are very useful for treating fever, taking more than what doctors suggest can lead to serious harm to your health and even death. 3 .
Don’t stay hungry. The old saying “Those with a cold should eat, while those with a fever should eat nothing” is wrong and dangerous. Fever speeds up your metabolism (新陈代谢). 4 . Hunger also reduces the body’s ability to fight off disease.
Don’t forget to drink water. A fever will increase the number of breaths, causing water loss. The body also sweats more as it regulates its temperature. In addition, people usually drink less water when they have a fever. That will finally cause the body to lose water faster.
A. You should see a doctor. B. You’d better not dress too warmly. C. They can help you look after yourself. D. So you need to get more energy from food. E. For children, the amount (量) should be even smaller. |

Alice woke up at 4 o’clock last Sunday morning. Suddenly, she smelled something strange. She looked around and found that the kitchen was on fire. Her parents were still sleeping. She went to wake them up as quickly as she could. Then, she made a phone call to the fire station. At that time, the smoke became thicker and thicker and they could only stay in the bedroom. Her father tried hard to take some wet towels (毛巾) out of the washroom. And then he asked Alice and her mother to cover their mouths and noses with the wet towels, lie down on the floor and wait for the firefighters (消防员). Several minutes later, the firefighters arrived. They put out the fire in time.
“My daughter did what I taught her. She kept calm (平静的) and was brave when she found the fire. She saved the lives of our family. She is really great. We’re proud of her,” said Alice’s father. Now, Alice is heroine (女英雄) in many people’s heart.

【推荐3】Be careful with a storm
Watch the sky. Look for darkening (变黑的) skies or the winds. Rain often follows suddenly. So don’t wait for it to begin. If you hear the thunder (雷), go to a safe place at once. A building or a car is the best place to go, but make sure the windows of the car are closed. If there is no good place around you, stay away from trees. Crouch(蹲伏) down in the open area, put your feet together and put your hands over your ears. If you’re with a group of people, stay about 5 metres from one another. Stay out of the water. Also, stay away from clotheslines, and drop your bags because they often have metal on them. If you’re playing an outdoor activity, stop it quickly.
Keep away from water. Do not take a shower, wash your hands, do the dishes or do other things with water. Do not use a mobile phone. Do not use computers or TV sets during a storm. Stay away from windows and doors.

Getting a pie from the sky is coming true! An online delivery platform (送餐平台) Meituan has been allowed to start drone (无人机) delivery service, Shenzhen Evening News reported.
In Longgang District, Shenzhen, a reporter from the newspaper watched how a meal has been delivered by the drone on Thursday. The drone slowly landed and a door above the Meituan Intelligent Dining Cabinet (储藏柜) opened slowly, then the drone put the meal box inside the cabinet.
During the year 2022, food and drinks such as noodles, fruits, coffee and milk tea and even flowers have been delivered through Meituan’s drone delivery system, the report said.
The company said that it had completed over 100, 000 drone deliveries last year. Meituan started to explore (探索) drone delivery service in 2017 and started the try in early 2021. The service has an average delivery time of 12 minutes, which is less than traditional delivery methods.
There are only a few cities in the world with the advantages of drone delivery service, and Shenzhen is taking the lead in China. However, there are still some problems with this kind of service. They are not suitable for large or heavy things. Also drones are affected by bad weather, such as strong winds, rain and snow, which may affect the safety of delivery.

In most classes, students sit at desks and listen to teachers in a classroom. But in a new class at Chapman Middle School (CMS) in Kansas, US, students are leaving the blackboards behind for blue sky and green grass.
They are actually taking an outdoor life class. It’s not a typical (典型的) class, but teachers are trying it out.
“We want kids to experience the life outdoors,” the class teacher John Harris said.
Twenty-six students attend the term-long class. The class includes four parts: archery (射箭), hunting safety, survival skills and fishing. 3. Students will also discuss how to protect natural resources (资源).
Before Harris’ class this year, archery teacher Andy Fewin taught a 9-week outdoor life class. All CMS students took it.
4. “It gets kids to take part in something besides playing video games.” Felwin said. Harris shares the same idea. He believes everyone needs to enjoy life and get outside.
“The purpose that school sets up the outdoor life class is to get the kids interested in coming to school, really enjoying their class time and understanding what is important,” Harris said. But he said everyone needs to finish their other work first. “It really teaches them to focus and pay attention in class. If they don’t, then they’ll miss out on the fun things we’re doing.” he said.

What are the fish in this picture? They are Chinese sturgeons(中华鲟)and Yangtze sturgeons. In the picture, people are setting the fish free in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in Yichang, Hubei Province. Over 3, 000 Chinese sturgeons and Yangtze sturgeon were set free into the river.
The fish lived at a breeding centre(繁育中心)before they were free. These fish are endangered(濒危的). They’re going back to river so that it will have more wild sturgeons.
In the 1980s, there were several thousand Chinese sturgeons in the Yangtze River. But in 2014, there were only around 60 sturgeons. As for the Yangtze sturgeon, it has been unable to naturally reproduce(自然繁殖)since 2000. This is because people were fishing too much and the rivers were crowded.
The two fish species(物种)are some of the oldest living animals in the Yangtze River. And Chinese sturgeons are even “aquatic panda”. They have lived for about 140 million years.
Since 1983, people have set free about 7 million Chinese sturgeons in the Yangtze River.

3. Why has the Yangtze sturgeon been unable to naturally reproduce since 2000?
4. What does the name “aquatic panda” mean in Paragraph 4?
