Beijing worked hard to give Paralympic athletes (残疾运动员) a better and convenient environment to have games during the winter vacation.
From March 4 to 12, around 600 Paralympians from 46 countries and regions competed in 78 events of six ice and snow sports in the Games. China has the largest team with sixty-eight men and twenty-eight women athletes. They won many prizes for the country’s Winter Paralympic (冬残奥) history.
All the athletes have something wrong with their bodies. Some are blinded or deaf. It is difficult to imagine how they live. But they never lose the hope for life. Instead, they find the meaning of sports. To make everything easy for them, Beijing did a lot of things, such as automatic doors, audio services, Braille signage (盲文), special seats and bathrooms. “It has been a good few years of hard work,” said an officer.
In China, there are 85 million people with disabilities. They join in different activities in culture and sports these years with a rise from 6.8% in 2015 to 23.9% in 2021. Chinese government actually tries to help them. As of 2020, 10,675 special sports centers were built and 125,000 athletes were trained.
All the results show the care from Chinese government to the people with disabilities.

Over 1600 birds from many countries , such as Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore took part in it. The birds stayed in cage(笼子). Bird owners put their cages on tall poles(杆).

Quebec is an old city with beautiful historic buildings, and many agree that winter is the best time to visit. The city comes alive in the snow, especially during the winter festival. People who visit the cold city can find tons of things to do that will make winter seem perfect.
The Carnival has a magical ice palace made with 9,000 tons of snow, a boat race on the St. Lawrence River, and two night parades(游行)with funny people and colorful cars. Other interesting things include a 122-meter ice slide, and a large football game. There is also an exciting dogsled race that runs through six kilometers of the city’s streets. With more than 20 teams in the game, the dogsled race is noisy, fun and full of great cheer. Even better, artists from around the world come to enter the snow sculpture(雕塑)competition. It is amazing how these artists can bring snow to life. The Quebec Winter Carnival has everything for the whole family and more. It is surely a great way to experience winter at its fullest.
Another famous winter festival is on the other side of the world in China. Known as the City of Ice, Harbin is the capital city of Heilongjiang Province, which is next to Siberia. In winter, it is very cold, and temperatures there can drop to 30℃below zero. Even so, the cold weather makes the city the right place for the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival. Why did a foreign festival become popular in China? In fact, Chinese traditional culture has always encouraged filial devotion(孝道)to parents. There are many stories which show filial respect in ancient China. For example, the story of Taste Liquid(液体的Medicine for Mother tells us the filial virtue(美德)of Emperor Wen of the Western Han dynasty. His mother had been sick for three years, He often stayed up by her bedside and cared for her day and night. He tasted the liquid medicine first before she drank it. Children in China are brought up with the education of filial devotion.
On special days, people often uses roses or forget-me-nots to express love, carnations are considered as the perfect flowers for mothers around the world, but few know that China has its own flower for mothers—the tiger lily.
Love for mothers can have different ways of expression. What matters most is love, not the festival itself. What mothers truly want is perhaps just a simple expression of love not the festival itself. What mothers truly want is perhaps just a simple expression of love from their children.
