For your next out-of-this-world vacation, you now have the option of really going out of this world—but it’ll cost you $ 40 million. According to a new report from Popular Mechanics, Russia is looking to build a luxury hotel in outer space. There you will wake up to a breathtaking blue planet—the Earth! The hotel is expected to be stationed on the International Space Station (ISS).

According to Popular Mechanics, the hotel will include a luxury orbital suite with big windows, personal hygiene (卫生) facilities, exercise equipment, and yes, WiFi. Because if you can’t share your experience on social media, did it really even happen?

Of course, the reasons behind the hotel aren’t just for fun and games. Apparently, space tourism might be able to help the Russians pay for another module (组件) to add to the international Space Station. Russian space contractor RKK Energia is currently building the first such module, which will give scientists a laboratory and power supply station from which to conduct tests.

If any of this is going to happen, however, Russia is going to have to hurry. With the ISS expected to be out of use in 2028, there’s little time to build the hotel and find wealthy tourists to actually buy a trip into outer space.

So if you’ve recently come into a fortune and are interested in investing in what could be the time of your life, ISS is calling your name.

1. What do we know about the hotel from the first paragraph?
A.It is quite affordable.B.It will be built in Russia.
C.It will offer an amazing view.D.It costs $ 40 million to build.
2. What can be inferred from Paragraph 2?
A.Hotel guests won’t be able to see into space.
B.Visitors are required to take exercise each day.
C.Space travel is not possible without the Internet.
D.Tourists tend to share traveling experiences online.
3. What does the underlined word “conduct” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A.prepare forB.carry outC.keep onD.take place
4. What will the hotel provide Russian scientists with?
A.Fun and games.B.Financial support.C.Space contractors.D.More time in space.
5. According to the passage, which statement is NOT true?
A.The hotel may be built on the International Space Station.
B.Tourists can use personal hygiene facilities and exercise equipment in the hotel.
C.The hotel is not the only module to add to the international Space Station.
D.The International Space Station is expected to run forever.

【推荐1】If you look around the room you are in right now, you’ll probably notice a number of electronics. But can you imagine if they all had to be joined together by wires (电线)? Picture the wire snaking along the floor, for example, from your smartphone to your speaker, or connecting your game controller to the computer screen, meaning you could never sit more than a couple of meters away from it. A world of electronics connected by wires wouldn’t just be untidy, but a possible danger, too. That’s where Bluetooth comes in. We’ve all heard of it — but what exactly is it?

Bluetooth is a method of short-distance (短距离) wireless communication between electronics that makes use of the power of radio waves. The idea was first thought of by Dr. Janp Haartsen at Swedish mobile company Ericsson in 1994. Things really stepped up in September 1998 when the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) was set up to develop and spread the technology. Bluetooth 1.0 came out in 1999, and a year later it began to be used in mobile phones and desktop computers. Now Bluetooth has become an increasingly popular way of solving the problem of more and more electronics needing to be connected. without having to connect everything together with wires.

But if you look at the remote control (温控器) you use to choose the program on TV, you might rightly ask yourself why Bluetooth was such a big deal. After all, connecting objects with infrared signals (红外信号) which can’t be seen had been done before. The problem with remote controls is that they need to keep what is called “line of sight”. If something is standing between the remote control and receiver, it won’t work. Because Bluetooth uses radio waves, the things standing in the way are no longer a problem.

Since its creation in the late 1990s, the technology has become more and more improved and widely used, with the 4 billionth Bluetooth objects shipped in 2020.

1. How does the writer lead in the topic “Bluetooth” in Paragraph 1?
A.By describing scenes.B.By comparing facts.C.By telling stories.D.By explaining reasons.
2. With the setting up of SIG, Bluetooth ________.
A.started to be used in carsB.made radio waves known to people
C.improved and spread quicklyD.was able to connect all electronics
3. From Paragraph 3, we mainly get to know the ________ of Bluetooth.
A.developmentB.popularityC.standardD.advantage
4. ________ will most probably be interested in this text.
A.Phone sellersB.Technology fansC.Newspaper reportersD.History lovers

文章大意:本文讲述了科技进步给健康医疗领域带来的机遇和挑战。

【推荐2】Today we can do everything with apps: pay bills, order food and shop for anything. Mobile technology means we can hold the world in our hands. However, when it comes to technology and healthcare, opportunities and challenges come together.

Let’s start with the ways to get health care. Telemedicine can allow a patient to use technology to see the doctor online and get a diagnosis (诊断) and instructions without leaving home.
In addition, there are many patient websites. These allow for different kinds of interactions (互动) about our health needs. Setting a date with doctors and reading lab results are quickly achieved by technology.
A whole new age of medical care seems likely to come in the future. But every coin has two sides. What might be on the other side of techno-health care?
Firstly, we should think about the health care experience as a whole. A usual visit to a doctor begins with a receptionist (接待员), who can see and tell how a patient is doing. This may influence the treatment effect. It’s likely that a patient website will not have such intuition.
Next, sharing the details of one’s life requires trust, which takes time to build. This is certainly true in health care, where some of life’s best and worst moments involve doctors. The human touch should not be undervalued and is unlikely to be there over the smartphone.
Lastly, test results can be difficult to understand. When someone without a medical degree sees a flagged (标记了的) result with no explanation on the website, there’s room for all kinds of stories to form in their minds—and also great worry.
So how does medicine adapt (适应) to the new technology age? Very talented companies are working on it. There is medical equipment that can be used at home to send necessary signs and heart sounds through telemedicine. It seems likely that some companies will find a way to explain test results.
But what it will not achieve is the warmth of human interaction and touch. Patients often need someone to listen to—and care about—their journey story, which will never be realized through a human-less technology. Technology should be a tool, but depending on it totally will most certainly have unexpected effects. Let’s not allow our humanity (人性,人道) to be one of them.
1. According to the passage, how does technology help health care?
A.It encourages doctors to voice their needs on the websites.
B.It offers the patient a convenient way to get a diagnosis.
C.It improves relations between doctors and patients.
D.It provides an opportunity to build a medical team.
2. The word “intuition” in paragraph 5 probably means ________.
A.an ability to understandB.an interesting experience
C.a chance to winD.a far decision
3. What do you know about techno-health care from the passage?
A.Patient websites require trust from doctors.
B.Talented companies can give medical advice.
C.Flagged results may cause worry for patients.
D.Medical equipment collects patients’ stories.
4. What can we learn from the passage?
A.It’s convenient for patients to get medical care because of high technology.
B.Smartphones can take the place of real doctors.
C.All the companies have found the way to explain test results.
D.Depending on technology totally will most certainly have expected effects.
5. The writer probably agrees that ________.
A.technology can deal with unexpected effects
B.telemedicine can take the place of usual health care
C.it is difficult for patients to adapt to the new technology age
D.techno-health care should take humanity into consideration

【推荐3】Slowly but surely, we’re moving closer and closer to 5G world. From smart-home security to self-driving cars, all the internet-connected devices(装置)in your life will be able to talk to each other at lightning-fast speeds. Objectively speaking, the fastest 4G download speeds in the U.S. top out at an average of 19.42 Mbps. But by comparison 5G promises gigabit(千兆)speeds.

“5G is one of those signs, along with artificial intelligence(人工智能), of this coming data age.” said Steve Koenig, senior director of market research for the Consumer Technology Association. The self-driving vehicle is a great emblem of this data age,and that is to say, it is a sign of time, because with one single task, driving, you have large amounts of data coming from the vehicle itself, and a variety of sensors(传感器)are collecting a lot of information to model its environment as it moves. It’s pulling in data from other vehicles about road conditions. It could be weather information, but also connected infrastructure construction(基础设施建设). There’s lots of data behind that task, which is why we need high speed.

Augmented reality glasses(实境眼镜)and virtual headset haven’t yet broken the mainstream(主流), but tech companies are joyfully betting that these devices will finally take the place of our smartphones. With 5G, that could actually happen. This is notable because companies such as Apple are reportedly developing AR glasses to give help-or perhaps even replace-smartphones.

Ericsson stated at February’s Mobile World Congress how smart glasses could become faster and lighter with a 5G connection, because instead of being weighed down with components, the glasses could depend on hardware for processing power.

But don’t get too excited. There’s still a lot of work to be done, including various ways to make sure the radios play nicely with hardware and infrastructure construction so 5G isn’t used only in big cities.

1. What does the author want to stress in Paragraph 1?
A.The lighting-fast speed of 5G.
B.The expectation of SG world.
C.The difference between 4G and 5G.
D.The internet-connected devices in our life.
2. What does the underlined word "emblem"in Paragraph 2 mean________?
A.Show.B.Success.C.SymbolD.Explanation
3. We can infer from the text that ________
A.5G world won’t come without AR glasses
B.5G helps to create the artificial intelligence vehicle
C.Apple company is developing AR glasses worldwide
D.Tech companies will face the fact that smartphones may be replaced
4. What will the author probably tell us next?
A.How to make 5G cover more areas..
B.Smart glasses will become faster and lighter.
C.Why 5G Isn’t used in big cities.
D.The importance of infrastructure construction.
