Some people might think that young people are too young to know what they want. But people like Lu Kaigang prove them all wrong.
Lu, 23, a fashion model from China, grew up walking the roads in the countryside in Guangxi. Now, he walks on some of the largest fashion catwalks in the world.
________. “I have had a supermodel dream since I was 10 while I was still in primary school. I saw a fashion show on TV and I felt it was so cool to do that on the runway,” Lu said.
Although Lu didn’t have much money or any professional training, that didn’t stop him from chasing his dream. Lu collected pieces of cloth from the factory he worked at and made them into outfits(服装). In 2018, he started making videos of himself wearing his handmade outfits and posted them online.
Lu has what money can’t buy: determination and self-belief. “The early videos I posted didn’t get many ‘likes’,” Lu said. “But I believed what I was doing would be recognized by the world someday.”
Lu quit his job at the factory and went back to his hometown to spend time learning how to be a supermodel. He also began to use other materials for outfits, like plastic bags and even buckets and kept posting videos of himself online.
About one year later, Lu’s hard work paid off and he became an online star. He’s not just an ordinary model. His one-of-a-kind clothes show off his talent and creativity, and his videos are mostly filmed on village dirt roads, adding a different and fresh background.
We can be sure that if Lu hadn’t followed his heart at a young age, he wouldn’t be where he is today.

Three years ago, Alan, Kath and Gareth joined the circus(马戏团). “People laugh when we tell them,” says Kath. “But it’s true. 【推荐3】Experts believe that there are about 40, 000 different types of jobs in the world. Choosing the right one is a difficult job in itself.
“Finding a job” is not the same as “choosing a job”. Many young people end up in a job that they are not suited to. “Chance” may play a more important part than “decision”. So here are a few steps to help you think about jobs, which you might enjoy doing afterschool or university.
First it is important to recognize what kind of person you are and which special qualities make you different from everyone else.
To study your skills and abilities even further, ask yourself this question: in the following three areas—skills with people, skills with information or skills with things. Which are your best skills?
You may have noticed something while you are doing this task. The point is that there is a difference between an interest and a skill. If you like and enjoy looking at pictures, it is an interest. But if you can draw a horse that looks like a horse and not a big dog, that is a skill. The best job is one that uses your skills in something that you are interested in. In addition to this, it is an advantage if you believe that a particular job is worth doing in the world.
After that, the next step is research. To find out as much as possible about different kinds of work, go to the library and read books, magazines and newspapers. Ask your friends about the work they do. If you are interested in banking, it is better to talk to a bank clerk who is twenty-four, rather than a bank manager who is sixty-four. Do not depend on your parents' friends for information. A younger person will be able to describe a normal day at work and tell you about the interesting or boring things when you first start working.
Finally, trust your own ideas and your own thinking! It is your own life, so find something that you enjoy doing.
1. What is the purpose of the passage?A.To discuss why people choose a job. |
B.To explain how we can find a right job. |
C.To describe the problems of finding a job. |

A.Try to research different kinds of work. |
B.Learn to find something that you like. |
C.Turn to your best friends for advice. |
D.Follow the steps to find a better job. |
A.It is actually not easy in finding the right type of job. |
B.Many young people can find a suitable job they enjoy. |
C.You can get useful advice from your parents’ friends. |
D.If you are interested in the job, that will be the best job. |

“Who can describe what stress is like?” No one tried to reply to his question. Mr. Smith looked a little sad. But he still waited for our answers. Five minutes later, Mr. Smith still didn’t get an answer. Mr. Smith looked not only sad but also surprised.
