Do you feel the same as Liu? Experts have found that more than 80 percent of middle school students feel afraid to be the center of attention (关注). Shyness means feeling frightened when you’re around other people. Some kids are born shy. Some become shy later because of their life experiences. It’s OK if it takes you a while to feel yourself again when you go to a new place or meet new people.
In fact, everybody gets a little shy sometimes. It’s just a case of how much. Most people have red faces and talk in broken sentences when they get shy. But some become so shy that they won’t go to a restaurant because they are too nervous to order and pay for their food. Some are afraid of meeting new people, so they seldom (很少) go outside. This kind of shyness can be bad for a person.
If shyness doesn’t stop you from doing something you want to do, being shy isn’t a very big problem. Some experts say shy people are smarter because they think more and talk less. Shy people are also good at working with others because they think more for other people. You see, being shy isn’t all bad. But remember not to let good chances pass you by just because of it. If you have to sing a song at a birthday party or practice spoken English in front of others, just do it! There’s nothing to be afraid of.

Objects under water will appear larger than they would on surface , too . Be careful not to tell any stories about the big fish that got away. That fish might not be so big after all ! It's just because sometimes things can seem to be as much as about 33 percent bigger in water!
What's more , in deeper water , colors just don't seem as bright . In fact , it looks as if some colors are missing . Remember the color of an object results from the wavelengths of light that are reflected from its surface . And light is taken in as it moves down through the water.
Swimmers wear wet suits to keep warm underwater . Let's take a bright red, yellow , and blue wet suit as an example . These colors are hard to miss on the surface of water.Watch carefully the changes in color as you descend in the water . The red part now looks almost black because the red light wavelengths , the longest among these three colors , are missing . As you go down deeper, the same thing will happen to the yellow part and in the end to the blue part . Even at a place about 6 to 9 meters underwater , you will look terrible, like a ghost! And you have to wait for your return to the surface to enjoy the bright colors again !

All life needs sunlight to live on. But only plants can use sunlight directly. Plants are ‘factories’. They make food from sunlight, water and things in the soil (土壤) and air. Plants feed all other living things. Animals can only use the sun’s energy after it has been changed into food by plants. Some animals feed directly on plants, others eat smaller animals. Meat-eating animals are only eating plants indirectly.
What about humans? We are members of many food chains. We eat rice, vegetables, and fruits and so on. We also eat meat and drink milk. But we often break up the food chains. We kill wild animals and also make rivers, lakes and seas polluted. When these rivers, lakes and seas are polluted, the fish in them can not be eaten. If we eat the fish, we will get strange illnesses.
Each form of life is linked (关联的) to all others. Breaking the links puts all life in danger.

The train is powered by lithium batteries (锂电池) instead of electricity. It is not only energy-saving but also environmentally friendly compared to other trains. Each coach (车厢) will be able to carry up to 120 passengers.
The train has done its test without any problem a short time ago. But further tests will be done to check the train’s ability to turn and climb up the tracks before it can be open to the public.
