Star runner Su Bingtian said China’s first Olympic sprint medal(短跑奖牌)means a lot to him. On May 19th, 2022, the International Olympic Committee(国际奥委会)decided to give the Tokyo 2020 men’s 4×100m third prize to the Chinese relay(接力)team.
Su, along with Tang Xingqiang, Xie Zhenye and Wu Zhiqiang, finished fourth in the final at last summer’s Tokyo Olympic Games. But the British silver winner broke anti-doping(反兴奋剂)rules and his medal was canceled.
The 32-year-old became a national hero after running 9.83 seconds to make the men’s 100m final at Tokyo 2020. He set a new Asian record. He led the Chinese men’s 4×100m relay team to the fourth place in 37.79 seconds at last summer’s Tokyo Olympic Games.
“I want to borrow the gold medal from her and take a photo because I never saw an Olympic medal,” he said after he saw the shot(铅球)putter Gong Lijiao win the gold in Tokyo last year. Now, his dream has come true.
“This is the first step. As for the future, I believe more and more young Chinese runners will get the Olympic medals in their own ways. I believe more Chinese runners will do everything they can to get medals for our homeland. Go, Chinese runners!” Su said.

“Here you go,” Sarah said, handing Ava an envelope (信封).
”Thanks,” Ava said. “But what is it?”
“An invitation (邀请) to my pool party. It’s at two on Saturday.” Sarah kept talking but Ava wasn’t listening.
The words “pool party” ran through her mind. Ava couldn’t swim.
“You’re coming, right?” Sarah said.
“Huh?” Ava jumped.
“Do you think you could come a little early? I could need your help.”
Ava didn’t know what to say. Sarah was one of her best friends. She couldn’t miss her party. But she didn’t want the whole school to find out she couldn’t swim.
“I think I might be busy this Saturday.” Ava saw the sadness on Sarah’s face.

You should go.” Ava wasn’t so sure. “Just be honest (坦诚的) with Sarah,” her father said.
When Saturday arrived, Ava’s parents drove her to the party right on time. Sarah ran up to Ava and said, “You made it! I am so happy.”
“Sarah, I have to tell you something. I didn’t really have other plans. I was just afraid to tell you that… I can’t swim.”
Sarah smiled. “Great! You can be the referee (裁判员) for the pool games. No one ever wants to get out of the water to do it.”
