Hello, my friends! Nice to meet you! My name is Bing Dwen Dwen. I’m the mascot（吉祥物）of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. I’m a black and white panda. I have big eyes, a small nose and a small mouth. My arms and legs are short. What is it on my left hand? Haha, it is a heart pattern（一个心形图案）to welcome friends all over the world to come to China. In Chinese, “bing” means ice and “dwen dwen” means lively. The panda is a symbol of China. Bing Dwen Dwen’s helmet（头盔）means the snow and ice of winter sports.

Who is that? It is my good friend, Shuey Rhos Rhon. It is the mascot of Paralympic Winter Games. It looks like a red lantern（灯笼）. It has two small eyes. Its arms and legs are short, too. We are very cute. “Shuey” is the Chinese word for snow and “Rhon Rhon” stands for tolerance and integration（宽容和融合）. In Chinese culture,   lanterns mean harvest（丰收）, warmth and light. People think we are wonderful mascots for China and the Olympic Games Beijing.

【推荐2】Are you stressed? Your dog can probably smell it, according to researchers from Queen’s University Belfast in the UK.

The researchers carried out a study to find out if dogs could tell the difference between a person’s normal smell and how he smells when he’s stressed.

To do this, they first collected breath and sweat samples(汗液样本) from human volunteers. To make sure the samples work well, the volunteers were all non-smokers and didn’t eat or drink anything in the hour before the study.

The team then collected samples after the volunteers completed a difficult maths task. The volunteers were asked to report their stress levels before and after the task. The researchers also checked the volunteers’ stress levels before and after the task by taking their heart rate(心率) and blood pressure(血压). In total, 36 out of 53 volunteers reported feeling stressed because of the task and had increased heart rates and blood pressure.

Then each person’s relaxed and stressed samples were shown to four dogs—Treo, Fingal, Soot and Winnie. They were asked to find the stressed ones. Surprisingly, the results showed that the dogs got it right nearly 94%. “It was interesting to see how the dogs were good at smelling people’s feelings,” said Clara Wilson, one of the researchers. “I hope we can discover even more about these gifted animals and what they can do.”

Ms Wilson also added that the study could be especially useful in training service dogs, since some of them work hard to help reduce stress.

AI is a double-edged sword. It can help us, but also cause us harm. Who is using AI? Is AI replacing humans? What should we do to avoid the risks and dangers that AI might bring?

Artificial intelligence is set to benefit mankind in many ways. It will make everyday tasks easier and bring efficiency to various industries. It might just prove to be one of man’s greatest inventions.

And yet, like any other technology, ▲ . In February 2018, a group of AI experts got together to discuss the possible misuse of AI. What they found was that “Every AI advance by the good guys is an advance for the bad guys, too,” according to Quartz.

Their biggest concern was that criminals (罪犯) could use AI for wrongful purposes. One of the areas they looked at was the use of AI to create websites that could be used to steal people’s personal information. Another possibility is that AI programs could be taught to hack software and break into computer secure systems.

There are some other concerns as well. It is possible that AI could be used to create fake images and videos. Chinese tech giant Baidu, in fact, has developed a program called Deep Voice that can “clone” anyone’s voice by studying a 3.7-second audio sample.

Many leading figures in the tech world have expressed concern about AI. People like Bill Gates and Elon Musk have called for the industry to be more strictly regulated, as there are few laws right now on the use of AI.

However, this is set to change. In March 2018, the European Union plans to set up a group that will discuss the moral and ethical dangers of advanced AI – and hopefully, suggest some regulations that will help us keep it safe for mankind.

“The cost of a full-body exoskeletons is about $45,000.” says Accenture’s Mr Spragg. But the price will come down. Maybe people won’t spend lots of money on them in the future. “I think people can buy them in every shop.” one scientist from California’s Suit X says.

Most importantly, they will see the world with a loving heart and still play a part in making a difference to the world.

There are still some problems with exoskeleton, though. For example, they are not easy to use, and sometimes people with them fall down easily. What’s more, they are very expensive, costing about $100,000. It’s too much to a common family. But computers were also seemed impossible for a common family to use 40 years ago. We never know what will happen in the future.
