It is easy to know if a person is resting. But do fish rest? The answer is “Yes”. Do you want to know if a fish is resting? Here are some ways.
◆Watch what a fish is doing
Fish may not look like they are resting, but they do have their own ways of getting some rest. Most fish will slow down while they are resting. Some fish move at the bottom of the water. Some move slowly near the top of the water.
You can know some fish are resting because they stay in one place. However, other fish never seem to stop moving. For example, some sharks keep swimming so that they can breathe in the water. Although these sharks are always swimming, they may still be resting. They have a special organ(器官) in their body. It allows them to keep their body moving while they are resting.
◆Watch how a fish reacts(作出反应) to things
When a fish is resting, it will react much more slowly. If you have a pet fish at home, try giving your fish some food when it is resting. The fish will spend more time noticing the food than it does when staying awake.

Most artistic exhibitions of the animal show its large teeth out of its mouth, which can always be seen. The T. rex model of the Jurassic Park is an example. But scientists now say it probably did not look like that.
T. rex belongs to a group of meat-eating dinosaurs called theropods (兽脚亚目食肉恐龙). A latest study found the teeth on T. rex and other big theropods might be covered by thick lips (唇). The scientists found that the teeth couldn’t be seen when its mouth was closed. They added that even in a wide open bite, only a small area of its teeth would show.
The research is the latest in a long argument over what dinosaur mouths really looked like. Some people think the dinosaurs’ teeth were just too big to fit in their mouth. When researchers compared skulls (颅骨) from dinosaurs and living reptiles (爬行动物), they found this was not the case. Some reptiles actually have bigger teeth than T. rex compared to their head size, and can still fit them under lips.
The scientists also found signs of wear (磨损) on the surface of the teeth. Reptiles without such lip protection experience wear on their teeth quickly. But when researchers studied a tooth from Daspletosaurs, a T. rex relative, they found it was in good condition and it did not show similar signs of wear.
Most of what science learns about dinosaurs comes from their bones. It is harder to get clear answers about soft parts, like lips. Remains of soft parts disappear more quickly. Adding lips to dinosaurs may make them look a little less frightening, but it also makes them feel more realistic.

The greenhouse effect
The atmosphere around the Earth is necessary for all living things. It is like the glass of a greenhouse, letting sunlight in and keeping heat from getting out. Without it, the Earth would be the same(B)________ the Moon—cold and lifeless.
When we burn fuels such as petrol and coal, we produce a gas called carbon dioxide(二氧化碳). Too much of this gas pollutes the atmosphere, and causes it to keep in too much heat. As a result of the greenhouse effect, the Earth’s temperature is increasing. This causes sea level to rise, and in the future may cause cities to disappear.
Cutting down forests
Every year, we destroy nature by cutting down huge areas of forests. (C)This makes the greenhouse effect worse (D)take, because, carbon dioxide, trees, in and produce oxygen. In your school, tests may be a part of your regular classroom work. If taking a test makes you feel worried, the good news is that there are some easy ways for you to prepare and feel better before the exam. Here’s how to get started.
1
Studying for a test will be easier if you organize your notes, handouts, and tasks ahead of time for each of your classes. This way, the information will be there for you when you need to review it. Consider using a separate folder (小册子) for each subject. You can keep them at home, at school, or in your backpack.
2
Once you have a test date, ask an adult to help you look at a calendar and make a plan for when you’ll study. This might mean promising to study for 30 minutes for a few afternoons the week before the test. Or maybe you have more time on the weekends and want to plan extra study time then.
3
As the day of the test draws near, be sure to get plenty of sleep the night before. When you sit down to take the exam, give yourself a few minutes to review the whole test. You can start by answering the first question, but you can also consider working on questions in a later section that you find easier to answer. Finally, go back and review all your answers to check for any mistakes.
