It was early winter several years ago. I had pulled out my old winter coat for another year’s use. It was still in pretty good shape after so many winters’ wear. I didn’t really need a new one but I wanted one and casually (不经意地) mentioned it to my daughter one day. She is such a sweet, loving soul that I should have guessed what would happen next. A few weeks later she gave me a gift of a bright red, brand new, winter’s coat.
I put the old one in my closet (壁橱) and started to wear the new coat every day. Each day, though, when I opened my closet something upset me. It seemed a shame that my still good, old coat should just sit there keeping no one warm during the cold, winter days. After a few weeks I took it out and drove to a local charity (慈善机构). I knew that there someone who couldn’t afford a coat might get my old one. I dropped it off and walked out the door. Then I saw a shivering (瑟瑟发抖的) man in only a thin jacket walking in. I wondered if he would end up in my old coat. Then I smiled and went home with a warm heart.
My new coat is old now. It is in too bad of shape to even give away to charity. I wonder if I should buy a new one soon but I think I will wait a while. I don’t really need a new one and maybe I can find a few more things to give to the charity instead.
Perhaps the best way to deal with our wants is to give. Love, after all, brings us the most joy. And the more of it you give away, the more of it you have. May all of your days be full of Warmth! May all of your days be full of Giving! May all of your days be full of Love!

Last Sunday, I went on a trip to East Zoo with my mother. We had a great time there.
We didn’t leave until 10 o’clock on Sunday morning because I had my piano lesson. It was around noon when we finally got to the zoo by bicycle. We saw lots of animals from different places. Among them, I liked a lovely kangaroo best. My mother who teaches geography at school told me a lot about kangaroos, “There are forty-seven kinds of kangaroos in the world. Most of them live in Australia. Kangaroos have very long, strong back legs used for jumping. They also have long, strong tails used for resting on. They only eat fruit and grass. Kangaroos can run at fifty kilometres an hour. The biggest kangaroos stand more than two metres tall.” Later, we also saw one panda. Two tigers and some other animals.
I learned much knowledge about animals from this short holiday.

The first people were some rich businessmen(商人). They just walked round it. A few of them even said the king wasn’t good enough because he didn’t make the road easy to walk on. None of them tried to move the stone.
Later a farmer came along. He carried a lot of vegetables. When he walked near the stone, he didn’t walk round it as the businessmen did. He put down his things and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. It took him a lot of time but he made it in the end.
Then the farmer picked up his things and was ready to go on his way when he saw a bag on the road. The farmer opened the bag. There were many gold coins(金币)and a note(便条)from the king.
The note said the gold coins inside were to thank the person for moving the stone away from the road. So every obstacle(障碍)is an opportunity(机会)to let us get something useful.
