(The lights come up. On stage are four actors, each wearing a mask that represents (代表) a season. A CHILD is sitting in a lawn chair, wearing a pair of red boots.)
SPRING: I am the most important season-when I arrive, all the plants begin to grow! So I should be the one who makes the weather. I…
WINTER: SPRING, please stop.
SUMMER: What about you, Winter? The last time you were in control, the rest of us froze!
WINTER: Well, guess what, SPRING? Your time is up. I’m putting myself in control!
( SPRING, FALL, and SUMMER stamp (跺) their feet to get warm as WINTER blows cold air.)
SUMMER: I hate being cold!
WINTER: Oh, just relax! You’ll get used to it.
SUMMER: Take out your sunglasses, everybody. It’s time for vacation in the sun, because Summer is running the show now!
( SUMMER Walks over and stands in front of WINTER. The CHILD takes off the hat and scarf and puts on a pair of sunglasses.)
FALL (quietly): In fact, we can change…
WINTER: Can we stop wasting time with Fall? I can cover everything with ice and snow! I can even stop traffic! I am the most powerful!
SPRING: No, I’m the most powerful! I will be in control.
( The CHILD starts to put on the red boots, but SUMMER jumps in front of SPRING. The CHILD starts to put on sunglasses, but takes then of when WINTER jumps in front of SUMMER. Soon, all four seasons are trying to get in front. The CHILD is now wearing the sweater, the sunglasses, the scarf and hat, and one of the boots. The CHILD gets up and faces the seasons.)
CHILD: That’s enough! Stop! Listen, you are all powerful and important. And, like it or not, you all need each other. You just need a schedule (日程). Spring, you start. You get three months.
SPRING: Three months? Wow!
CHILD: You’re all going to get three months. First Spring, then Summer, after that, it’s Fall’s turn, and last, Winter. Everybody gets exactly the same amount of time, and everybody takes turns. It’s called working together!
( Lights out.)

Stop motion is a special type of movie-making. It uses real objects, instead of drawings, to tell a story. The story roles can be people, animals, or even everyday objects. You can make them out of clay (橡皮泥) or just use some small toys.
Make a movie
Give it a try, and be creative! Get your parents and friends together and show your film!
What you will need |

Make up a short story. Make sure it has a beginning, middle and an end. Then write down your story. Pick a place where you’re going to shoot the movie. Make sure you’ll have enough room to take pictures. Collect or make the roles you’ll need for your movie, then prepare any backdrops (背景幕布) (Even a piece of cloth will work). Set up your first shot. Put your roles and props (道具) at the right place for your first scene. Keep your “movie camera” steady (稳定的) with the three legs. Repeat the step above over and over and until you complete your story. |

Many believe that life has smiled on Yang Mi: at the age of 4, she got her first TV drama(剧)role; at 16, she became a model for a fashion magazine; at 18, she went to her dream college — Beijing Film Academy (学院).
Last year, the 24-year-old actress played bad girl Luo Qingchuan in the time-traveling TV drama, Palace. The drama became a big success and made Yang very famous. The number of her micro blog followers soared from several thousand to more than 3 million overnight.
Could she be any luckier? Yang doesn’t think luck had anything to do with her success. She paved her way all by herself. “Every chance comes from the efforts I’ve made,” said Yang. People now think she’s very hard-working.
She doesn’t forget the time when people gave her the cold shoulder. Some treated her with little respect. They didn’t want to help her in her time of need. “I have to thank them because they gave me the drive to prove myself,” she said. That’s why she is eager to help others when they are in need.
In May, Yang became the ambassador (大使) for the Climate Group. She calls on people to join the Million-Miracle (百万奇迹) project and plant trees on China’s dry land. Together we’ll fight the bad weather!
