Many ways can make your mom feel special and you don’t need to     1     much money. Mothers need to feel seen,     2    , and loved and most often just want to be with their children.

How can you make Mom feel special?

Spend quality time together. Mothers want something more than anything else in the whole world. They want to be     3     their children. For a holiday, or any other special moment in     4     lives, be sure to spend a     5     day of one-on-one time with the special woman in your life.

Go out for a walk together. Spending time together doesn’t need any money—never forget that. A beautiful walk is the perfect way     6     Mom happy. Not only will you get some fresh air and sunshine,     7     also the bond between you will be closer.

Bring her flowers. Flowers can brighten your mom’s feeling.     8     you have flowers in your backyard, you can pick them for free. Otherwise, a flower     9     offers you all kind of flowers. Consider these     10     for no reason at all because Mom should feel special all year round.

It was nine on a cold winter night. I went home from work on my motorbike.

At the last crossing, while I was     1     the green light, I saw an old man walking toward me. He stopped me and I     2     a little nervous. The old man said     3    ,"Excuse me. Could you please help me?" I looked at him up and down. He looked about 70 years old.

The old man     4     a 10 yuan bill and said to me,"You see the old lady over there? She is selling baked（烤）sweet potatoes. Could you just take the money and buy one from her?" He pointed at an old lady selling something about fifty meters away in the corner.

"But why don't you go and buy it     5    ?" I was puzzled（迷惑的）. The old man continued,"That old lady is my wife and it's her     6     day to sell baked sweet potatoes. Just now I called her. She told me that there was only one sweet potato left and she wouldn't go home until all the sweet potatoes were     7     out.     8    , I know she can't stand the cold because her legs hurt. I'm very     9     about her."

    10    , I understood why the old man asked me to buy his wife's sweet potato. I was really warm and moved. Without taking the money, I rode to the old lady quickly and bought the last one. As I waved goodbye to the old man, I could see him standing there with a thankful smile.

As a child, I got angry quite easily and was not good at communicating with others. I still remember it was an early autumn. Some     1     started to turn yellow and the weather became cool. One day, as I was getting ready for school, my mother carelessly handed me my father’s vest (背心) instead of     2    . At that time, I was getting to have a     3     size than my father, so when I put on the vest, I felt as if I wasn’t able to breathe! I realized that it was a small mistake which was     4     by my mother, but somehow the breathless feeling was so strong that it made me very angry. My mother said sorry with a smile, but I shouted at her     5     thinking much, I got it off my body so wildly that I made a hole in it. I put on my own vest and rushed out of the house     6     my mother could stop me.

Later, my mother shared her bad feelings with my father, “See what your son has done.” Instead of saying he would scold (责备) or beat me, my father     7     asked my mother to mend the vest.

Later when my mother told me about my father’s answer, I felt ashamed (惭愧的) of my bed behavior. My father’s gentle kindness     8     me a lesson which I would never forget.

On that day, I decided not to let anger     9     me any longer. Of course, there are times when I am angry. However, whenever that happens, I     10     to remember my father’s vest. It always reminds me to think about others’ feelings when I get angry.
