Wan Kuidi, 46, has been a village doctor for more than 20 years. Now, he serves about 800 villagers on a small island in Qingdao, Shandong.
The island, Tianheng Island, covers 1.46 square kilometers and is about 1.7 kilometers from the mainland. As the only doctor on the island, Wan takes a boat to the island’s hospital every morning.
