Do you make your bed every morning? It may seem like a small act, but don’t look down on the benefits of making it a habit. This is good for both your physical and mental health.

First of all, making your bed can be your first step towards having a successful day. Tidying up your bedding may only take a few minutes. But this can be your first task of the day. Completing it will give you a small, simple sense of pride. And this will encourage you to move on to other tasks.

Besides, your sleep environment plays an important role in the quality of your sleep. Poor “sleep hygiene (卫生)” includes not only noise and light, but also clutter (杂乱). In other words, an untidy bed will distract (分散注意力) you and keep you from falling asleep. On the other hand, keeping your bedroom clean and comfortable will help you sleep better at night.

How can you make bed-making a daily habit then? Well, connect it to a morning routine (惯例) you already follow. You can try making your bed after brushing your teeth, for example. Some people also set alarms on their phones to remind them to make their beds.

Whatever way you want to take, it won’t be difficult if you decide to get into this habit. It can get your day off to a great start and give it a better finish!

【推荐1】Ebola(埃博拉) is a river in Africa. In 1976, a dangerous virus(病毒)was found there. The virus can cause people to get very sick and even die. So people call the virus Ebola.

Two years ago, Ebola caused the worst problem in western Africa, and it spread very quickly. Medical experts all over the world did their best to stop Ebola and to treat the people who were sick.

Ebola often starts with fever and headache, kind of like the flu. But it can get worse and cause serious bleeding(流血) and breathing problems. It’s very important for infected(受感染的) people to get treatment right away. People who have Ebola need to be cared for in a special way so that the illness doesn’t spread to doctors, nurses or others in their families.

Doctors aren’t sure how the first person got Ebola, but they think people picked up the virus from infected animals. People can get the virus by touching an infected person’s drops of blood. But Ebola doesn’t spread through food or water like some viruses do. It also doesn’t travel through the air like cold or flu viruses do. In areas where the Ebola virus is, anyone who doesn’t feel well should get medical help immediately.

【推荐2】Artificial intelligence (AI) can help us make phone calls. It can guide us to where we want to go. It can play games. And now, AI can do even more things.

Researchers from Microsoft have created the first machine translation system that can translate news articles from Chinese to English, Business Standard reported.

According to Microsoft’s official website, researchers tested the system by asking it to translate hundreds of sentences taken from news stories. Then, language experts compared the results to two translations that were done by humans. The experts concluded(得出结论) that the system’s translations were as good as the human translations.

Machine translation is always challenging. This is partly because different words can be used to express the same meaning. It can be hard to say which word is more “correct”.

Experts used several methods to improve the system’s translation abilities. “Much of our research is really inspired by how we humans do things,” lead researcher Liu Tieyan said.

One method is called dual learning(对偶学习). In this method, the system translates every sentence from Chinese to English, as well as translates the sentences back from English into Chinese. This way, the system can improve itself and learn from its own mistakes. This is similar to what humans do to make sure their translations are accurate(准确的).

Another method makes use of deliberation networks(推敲网络). The researchers taught the system to repeat the process of translating the same sentence over and over. Gradually, the system can improve the quality of its translations. This is similar to how people revise(修改) their own writing by going through it again and again.

1. Microsoft created a system that can ________.
A.make phone callsB.give people directions
C.play games with peopleD.translate news articles
2. What did the experts say about the system’s translations?
A.They were not accurate.
B.They were as good as human translations.
C.They were better than human translations.
D.It’s hard to tell whether the translations were correct.
3. Dual learning trains the system to translate ________.
A.more quicklyB.different sentences
C.more accuratelyD.the same sentence repeatedly
4. What is the main idea of the last three paragraphs?
A.What artificial intelligence can do for us.
