【推荐1】Dale loves reading. She likes reading after she finishes her homework. Her parents often tell her to go to bed early. The books Harry Potter are Dale’s favorite. But to Dale, all books have their own magic (魔力).

Dale wanted to open a bookstore, so she did a survey in the neighborhoods around her. She found that in poor families, there might be only one book for every 300 kids. Dale was shocked (震惊) at the result, so she started to do something to help kids to read.

Just at the age of eight, she started a group to help kids get books. Her Reading Heart collected (收集) old books from people. Then Dale, her family and friends gave those books to kids in schools, hospitals and low-income neighborhoods.

On visits to schools, Dale usually had a big party. She danced with the kids, and gave them free T-shirts and books. After the kids got their books, Dale always told them a rule. “You can keep the book for as long as you like,” she said.   “But when you finish it, give it to a friend or a classmate.” In this way, kids got to read even more, yet still they had a book to keep.

Nan Rendong, before his death in 2017, led the research and development of China’s Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST, 500米口径球面斑电望远镜) , the world’s largest radio telescope. He worked on the project for more than 20 years. His contributions to Chinese astronomy earned him the title, “the people’s scientist”.

He forgave Mian. People now use the saying to show that a good gift doesn't have to be expensive. What matters is the sincerity it carries.

Wei twice won a gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad (国际数学奥林匹克竞赛)when he was a high school student. He entered Peking University without taking gaokao, the college entrance (人学) exam, due to his math skills. Wei graduated with high scores from Peking University in 2014. And he chose to stay at Peking University for his master degree, after which he got his PhD (博士学位)in only three and a half years. In 2019, Wei became an assistant math professor of Peking University.

In a 2021 interview, Wei’s holding a plastic water bottle caught the attention of people online. He was mistaken as a student at that time.

Wei is famous not only as a math genius but also for his simple lifestyle. Wei is a disciplined (自律的)person. He always carries a plastic bottle, and he eats steamed buns and tofu in the dining hall. Wei offers young people a new idol instead of pop stars.
