More importantly you can do all those things that you cannot do now because you are too young. So the question is ‘At what age do you really become an adult?’ Well, people become adults at different ages in different places.
In Australia, the 18th birthday is a very important event for young Australians because it means they can do almost anything they want. They can vote (选举), learn to drive a car, get married, join the army and even buy their own houses. Even if they can do all these things, most Australians have to wait until their 21st birthday to really celebrate becoming an adult. This is the traditional adult age in Australia and the USA and the UK.
Even though 21 is the traditional adult age in many English-speaking countries the law nowadays is different in each country. In the UK you can join the army at 16 and even get married at 16 if your parents allow. Young people in the UK can learn to drive a car at 17, although they have to wait until they are 18 to vote.
In China, you can vote and learn to drive a car when you are 18, but if you want to get married, women have to wait until they are 18 and men until they are 22. Chinese people celebrate important birthdays every 10 years — so when young people turn 20, they can expect a big party!
No matter what age you are, becoming an adult is really about learning how to be independent and responsible(负责任的). Once you are finally able to take care of yourselves and make your own decisions, then you can say that you are truly all grown-ups.

Moving people around each large city will be a very big challenge. The traffic speed in London will fall to about 7 miles per hour. Around the same speed it was 150 years ago, in the days of the horse and cart.
But city planners are working on ways to solve the problem.
Self-driving Cars Robot Taxis | Self-driving cars or robot taxis will play a part. It’s predicted(预测) there’ll already be more than 30 million self-driving cars on the road by 2040. People don’t need to drive by themselves. By 2050, there will be robot taxis in the city streets. We can call the taxis just at a single touch. |
Buses | Pubtie transport(交通工具) like buses will be highly personalixed(个性化). People don’t need to look through the bus timetable. Buses will be connected on the Internet and make the way by themselves according to where the people need to go. |
Bikes | Bikes will be helpful on that slow last mile of travel, too. Cities could build special roads for them high above city streets. Xiamen in southeast China already has an 8-kilometer bicycle way to protect riders like that. That may be another kind of urban transport in 2050. It will be multi-level(多层次). |
For many people, urban transport in 2050 might be cool.

On the northwest coast, the temperature changes very little between summer and winter, but the north central states have a very different kind of climate. In those states, people wear light clothes in summer, and they need heavy woolen clothes in winter.
In the southwest coast, the climate is rainy and warm during the winter, but the summer is dry and hot.
In the northeast of the United States, summer temperatures are very different from winter temperatures. Summer is usually hot, and winter is usually cold. Spring temperatures are warm, and fall temperatures are cool.
Years ago, people in the cold parts of the United States didn’t often get fresh vegetables and fresh fruits during the summer. Today, however, trucks and trains carry fruits and vegetables very quickly to all parts of the United States. In this way, Americans “send their climates” to people in other states.

The study came out on 27th September, 2018 in The Lancet Child &Adolescent Health. It examined the habits of more than 4, 500 children aged between 8 and 11 in the United States. The study found that 29% of the children met none of these standards, while 41% met only one. About 25% met two and just 5% met all the three standards.
The kids were given tests to measure (测定) memory, attention, language skills and planning. Children who met all the three standards scored highest, and they had the best cognition (Cognition refers to how we learn and understand things). What’s more, the more standards the children met, the better their cognitive abilities were. The researchers wrote that their findings especially showed the importance of limiting (限制) screen time and encouraging healthy sleep.
“We found that more than two hours of screen time in children led to poorer cognition. More research into the relationship between screen time and cognition is now needed, including studying the influence of different types of screen time, and whether the programme is educational or not.”
