Spring is here, and it is time to enjoy West Lake Longjing tea. Usually, we think of workers picking tea leaves by hand. But now some Longjing tea is being picked by metal workers—tea-picking robots!
In a Hangzhou tea garden, a smart tea-picking robot developed by Zhejiang Soi-Tech University sell to work for the first time. “We took thousands of pictures of new tea buds (芽) and fed them to the robot for it to learn. The robot uses an AI model to recognize the buds it needs to pick,” said Professor Chen Jianneng, Party branch secretary (党支部书记) of the research team. This lets the robot find about 90 percent of the right tea buds.
The robot’s arm pulls and then sucks (吸) up the tea buds. These buds are quickly moved ínto a special box. After the robot gathers all the buds from the area it’s working at, it moves the buds from the box to a main box that holds everything it collects.
The robot was made because there are not enough people to pick tea. In Zhejiang, about 400,000 more pickers are needed now. “Picking is the biggest challenge for the development of the tea industry,” said Professor Wu Chuanyu , who leads the research team. “Tea-picking robots are a trend (趋势) of the future,” said Wu. “In about five years, the robots will do the job of picking West Lake Longjing tea instead of people,” Wu added.

An air taxi is a small aircraft (飞机) that can carry people from place to place. Air taxis don’t need a long runway like planes do. They can go straight up and down, like a helicopter (直升机).
Joby Aviation has been making and testing flying taxis since 2017. But this is the first time they’re testing a taxi that’s been built in a factory. Before that, all their taxis were made by hand.
By 2025, Joby hopes to start carrying passengers for money. They’ve teamed up with Delta Air Lines to create a program to fly people from their homes to the airport. The program is expected to start first in New York and Los Angeles.
Joby’s air taxis will be flown by a pilot, and can carry four other passengers. They can fly as fast as 200 mph (about 320 kph) and can go around 100 miles (about 160 kilometers) before the electric batteries (电池) need to be recharged.
Compared with helicopters, Joby says their taxis are both quieter and cheaper. The company expects to charge about $3 a mile (about 1.6 kilometers) at first. But over time, they hope to bring the price down to less than $1 per mile.
Joby isn’t the only company developing air taxis. Companies around the world are working on similar vehicles (车辆). France even plans to use a few air taxis in Paris during the Olympic Games.
But there’s still a lot to do before air taxis become common. For example, governments need to make rules about where, when, and how these taxis can fly. Still, it seems likely that air taxis will be part of the future of travel.

This kind of robot is able to fly, it’s mainly used to collect information from the air and send goods of up to 30 kilos to people trapped by an earthquake. It has an excellent camera which can provide very clear pictures. It can work day and night, and it’s also able to send the latest pictures from the quake area.
Dr. Qi Juntong, a researcher from Tsinghua University, said, “the most important character of this flying robot is that it doesn’t need a control from faraway places. We just set in it the information of the places where it should go, and then it takes off and lands by itself.”
The main job of robots is to search for any signs of life in places where human rescuers are unable to go. The camera, also acting as a detector (探测器) that finds trapped people and detects harmful gases, is placed in the robot which can work in the dark. With its 10-meter-long pipe (管道) in the robot, people who are trapped in the fallen buildings can get supplies including oxygen (氧气) and water.
Experts have said that the robots would enter production and serve as part of the national earthquake rescue team as soon as possible.

Now, more and more people are beginning to regard robots as a useful solution (解决办法) for social distancing problems.
Robots have been used for years, even though you might not connect these tasks with robots. ATMs in banks are common examples of everyday robots. There are many companies using robots even before the pandemic (疫情). Robots have also been used for tasks considered dangerous.
Among COVID-19 conditions, new robots are being tested in many fields. At McDonald’s and other fast-food restaurants, robots are being tried as waiters and even cooks. Restaurants are using robots to send their food safely to homes of old people because they’re at high risk from COVID-19. Disinfection (消毒) robots have been developed to fight against COVID-19 in Qingdao, Shandong Province. They can replace human beings in carrying on the responsibility of disinfection. These newly developed disinfection robots have been put into operations in the quarantine wards (隔离病房) of some hospitals.
The arguments against robots include the loss of human jobs and the idea that machines could control our lives. But now that COVID-19 has changed the world, more people will likely be accepting robots. The situation now is showing us how technology can be used to improve the world.

Solar power is a kind of electricity. It takes energy from the sun by using solar panels(太阳能金属板).People usually put the solar panels on the roofs of the houses and buildings. It is the family solar power system. Some countries are even beginning to build solar power factories by setting thousands of solar panels in some place, because there is enough sunshine. Solar power panels have many advantages. The power is easy to get and will never be used up. Whenever it is sunny, there is power. The power is clean and renewable. It helps to reduce waste and pollution. It is also great for the environment. In some places, because they are too far away to send electricity or not easy to build electric power factories, solar power is especially necessary.
More and more countries, such as China, the USA,Japan and India, encourage scientists to develop technology to put solar power into use. However, the power is not as widely used as expected(预期的).
One of the difficulties is that a solar power system needs sunshine. Some countries having lots of rain, like the UK, are not suitable to develop such power systems. Secondly,a solar power factory requires a very large place to set enough solar panels to collect sunlight and change it into electricity. Maybe an area in the desert would be one of the perfect places for such a factory to build. What’s more, solar panels are expensive at present though the energy itself doesn’t cost anything.
Today scientists are working hard to develop cheaper solar power systems. Maybe one day solar power will be one of the most important clean energies in our life.

Eat with others. It can help you to see others’ healthy eating habits. If you usually eat with your parents, you will find that the food you eat is more delicious.
Listen to your body. Ask yourself if you are really hungry. Have a glass of water to see if you are thirsty—sometimes you are just thirsty. You need no food. Stop eating before you feel full.
Eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After you don’t eat for the past ten hours, your body needs food to get you going, so you must eat something for breakfast. You will be smarter after eating breakfast.
Eat healthy snacks like fruits, yogurt (酸奶) or cheese. We all need snacks sometimes. In fact, it’s a good idea to eat two healthy snacks between your three meals. This doesn’t mean that you can eat a bag of chips instead of a meal.
Don’t eat dinner late. With our busy life, we always put off eating dinner until the last minute. Try to eat dinner at least 3 hours before you go to bed. This will give your body a chance to digest (消化) most of the food before you rest for the next 8—10 hours.
