A proverb (谚语) is a short, well-known saying that expresses a common truth or belief. Proverbs are found in most cultures and are often very old. In American history, Benjamin Franklin was a scientist, inventor and writer as well as a leader of the American Revolution.

Franklin wrote a book called “Poor Richard’s Almanac”. It included many proverbs that he had heard or created. Some of them are still used today, like this one: “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” Franklin is also remembered for other proverbs like, “A penny saved is a penny earned.”     2    

Here are other examples of proverbs that Americans use. The first ones are about love. Some people say, “All is fair in love and war.” They mean that anything you do in a relationship or in battle is acceptable.

    3     In other words, when you are in love with someone, you may refuse to see anything bad about that person.

Here is another popular saying about love: “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Some people believe that a woman can win a man’s love if she prepares his favorite foods.

“    4    ” This proverb is true in love and war or other situations. It means that what you do is more important than what you say.

We have to stop here, so we must say, “All good things must come to an end.”

【推荐3】My work allows me to live in different countries. Reading books helps me to connect（联系）with my friends and family, and my home country, the UK. Here are just some books that I read a lot.

This book follows the story of a young girl Judy, as she goes to university and gets lots of new experiences. This book always reminds me of my mother because she used to read it to me when I was ill in bed.

This is a science fiction book about a man's adventures（冒险经历）in space. It is really creative and has a very British sense of humor（幽默感）. For this reason, it might be a bit difficult for foreigners to understand, but when I read it, I feel a strong connection to my home. When I worked in Japan and the USA, the book was by my side.

I'm sure many of you know Harry Potter books! I have read them many times since primary school. I really get lost in the stories. These days I' m reading them again in Germany.

This was one of my favorite books. It was a gift for my 13th birthday from my best friend, so it still strongly reminds me of my childhood（童年）. It follows three children and their adventures next to a railway（铁路）.

When we see these pictures, we believe that if we follow the instructions that tell us how to cook them, we can make food that looks like that too. However, not many people realize the strange things that photographers (摄影师) use to change a simple plate of food into the ▲ dishes in the photos.

Food is one of the most difficult subjects for photographers. Hot food goes cold, cold food goes dry, and frozen food melts, making it useless. But don’t worry, because food photographers have the tools to deal with these problems. They don’t just visit photography shops. They also visit art shops, garages, and pharmacies (汽车修理厂和药店). As well as camera equipment, a photographer’s bag includes motor oil (机油) to help sauces (调味汁) look brighter, hairspray (发 胶) to stop cakes looking dry, and a spoonful of shoe polish to help meat look cooked.

There are a few rules about food that photographers have to follow. If a photo is going to become part of an advertisement (广告), rules say the food which people want to advertise must be the real thing. However, any other food in the photo doesn’t need to be real. Plastic “fruit” or glass “ice” in a drink next to the real dessert is acceptable, according to the rules. Of course, some photographers choose not to use non-food objects in their photos, even when the rules allow it, but that does make their job much more challenging.

Whether a food photographer believes in using tricks or not, one thing is true: food photography needs a lot of patience.

1. Take the medicine with water. One pill（片) every eight hours. For further night time and every morning, take two pills at bedtime. Don't take more than six pills in 24 hours. 3. The medicine is for a person with a cough. Once two pills a day before sleep for adults.   Don't take the medicine without cough. Half for children under 12 years old. Children with a bad cough, go to see a doctor.

4. The medicine is taken three times a day. Once five pills for an adult with a cold. Half the pills for children under 10 years old. Take the medicine before three meals or before sleep.
