Listen to them. Always put yourself in your friend’s shoes. Ask questions to know their problems, but the main thing is to listen to them. You don’t need to have all the answers.
Ask them what they need. If you’re worried about your friends and you want to be there for them, ask them what they need. Then you can give them support in a way that’s really helpful.
Tell them how you feel. You don’t have to make a big deal about it all the time. But you can make a difference to how someone is feeling by letting them know how important they are to you. So, go for it!

From English words to history events, you have to remember a lot at school. Is it difficult? Do you want to find some good ways to remember easily and quickly? If you have a photographic memory (过目不忘的记忆), will things be different? Scientists have made an effort to find ways to improve our memories for years.
Sleeping in a rocking bed
When we were babies, we could easily fall asleep in our mothers’ swaying (摇晃的) arms. Some scientists have found that if we sleep in a bed which moves softly forwards and backwards, we can have a deeper sleep.
Becoming emotional
Thinking back to the past, it seems that we could always remember those things that make us sad or happy easily. Why?
In an experiment (实验), scientists divided 100 people into two groups. People in the first group were asked to ride a bike slowly for 60 minutes. People in the second group only had to do it really fast for 6 minutes. It shows that the short but intense (剧烈的) exercise made the brain produce more of a chemical called “brain-derived neurotrophic factor (脑源性神经营养因子). People can remember things quickly with this chemical.
A.Having intense exercise |
B.Because memories can influence emotions (情绪). |
C.Here are some tips from their findings. |
D.Its amount (数量) goes to the highest point after six minutes of intense exercise. |

The technology is also built to deal with many more users without slowing services down. Such improvements are sure to be popular for 5G users worldwide.
While 5G is set to start in some limited areas of the United States this year, much of the rest of the world is not expected to receive such service widely until 2023.
One project called 5G Rural First in Britain, though, is already testing this superfast technology, but not on humans. Instead, the experiment involves an unlikely group of internet users-cows. The system connects the animals to 5G in an effort to automate(自动化)the milking process.
Testing areas are set up at farms in three countries of England. The cows are fitted with 5G devices(装置)that connect to a robotic milking system. The system uses sensors(传感器)and machine learning to fully automate the process. System designers say technology takes over after a cow feels ready to be milked and walks toward an automatic gate. The device is designed to recognize each cow. It then sets machine to the right height for milking. During the process, machines give food to the cow in return.
In one of the test areas, about 50 of the farm's 180 cows are fitted with 5G smart devices and health-watching sensors. Project officials say the devices do not harm the cows and the sensors allow farmers to immediately discover any problems such as health problems.
Other technology tools powering the 5G smart farms include automated brushes that turn on when the cow touches them. Sensors also control the supply of light in the cows' living areas depending on the weather. And an automatic feeding system makes sure the animals always get enough to eat.
Nick Chrissos works on the project. He said the system can connect every cow, and every other animal on the whole farm. “That's what 5G can do for farming—really free the power that we have within this farm, everywhere around the United Kingdom, and everywhere around the world.”
1. What's Paragraph 4 mainly about?A.How the system automates the milking process. |

D.How the testing areas were set up in the countries. |

②National Volunteer Week started in 1974 and is held every April. It is a time to thank volunteers for their achievements. It is also a perfect opportunity (机会) to encourage others to take their first step toward becoming a volunteer. Making the decision to take the first step can be the biggest problem, because they often wonder if they will be able to meet the organization’s expectations (期望). Some people fear not knowing anyone else in the group. Not having enough time also stops some from sharing their abilities. The following tips can help if you have some of these worries.
③Start out slowly, don’t add too much pressure (压力). Even a few hours a month can make a big difference in someone’s life.
④Choose an organization (组织) with the same interests and common values.
⑤Take part in a training meeting for new volunteers, even if it is not asked.
⑥Work with a experienced volunteer. He volunteered a lot, he can help you increase the confidence and completely understand the organization’s expectations.
⑦Invite a friend or family member to serve. It is a good experience to volunteer with them.
⑧Finally, it is most important to enjoy the volunteer experience and to remember that not all volunteer experiences are perfect. If one experience doesn’t work, don’t give up and you’ll surely find the right opportunity.
⑨Spend some time on volunteer work and you will see great changes in people’s lives. As Mason discovered during his volunteer experience, “...little things can change a person’s life.”

When you’re sad, the world seems dark and unfriendly. Many times, you cry, and it’s hard to stop. Crying usually makes you feel better. When sadness starts to go away, it feels like a heavy blanket is being lifted (移开) from your heart.
If sad feelings go on for too long, it’s called depression (抑郁症). Children who have depression may not know it. Often, it’s a parent or a teacher who notices changes in children’s behavior.
When depression happens, it’s very important for children to receive treatment (治疗). When they do, they can get better quickly. Sometimes treatment includes talking to someone who knows all about depression. Sometimes it means taking medicine. Sometimes both of these things are used.
If you think you have depression, or you just have sadness that simply will not go away, it is important to talk to an adult about it. This person can help you find the right type of treatment. Many cities also have mental health hot lines that are listed in the phone book. There is always somebody who can help.
