On October 28, 2018, a serious traffic accident happened in Chongqing. A bus and a red car collided(碰撞) at the second bridge of the Yangtze River. The bus ran out of control on the bridge and crashed into the river. All 15 passengers and the driver in the bus were killed.
At the beginning of the accident, many people doubted that the red car was going the wrong way, causing the bus to fall into the river. Others guessed that the accident was caused by the driver’s sudden illness. However, a few days later, based on the black box saved from the scene of the accident, together with the traffic records, the police announced the truth.
Before the bus reached the bridge, a female passenger had a quarrel with the bus driver because she missed her station, but the driver refused to stop the bus. So they got into a fight. Because the speed was very high, the bus was out of control.

【推荐1】Many volunteers have helped old people learn to use smart phones. However, old people still have trouble using them. It takes much time and effort, and more importantly, old people can easily forget what they’ve learned and the volunteers have to do the same job again and again.
Liu Siyuan from Beijing 101 Middle School noticed the problems and tried to solve them with a guide book. The 16-year-old set up a volunteer group called Silver Hair. Its seven members spent about half a year writing a 300-page book called May I Show You How to use Smart Phones.
The group members made a survey of more than 1, 000 old people and talked with many in nursing homes (养老院) and found out what the old people care about with smart phones. “How to use Wechat” was on the top of the list as this app covers many parts of life such as chatting, money transfers (转账) and health code (健康码) checking. These make up one chapter (章节) of the book. The other nine chapters include the basic functions (功能) of phones, online shopping, using online maps and more. To make the book easier for older readers, Liu also made the pages light yellow and the words big.
“Many old people preferred not to use smart phones at first, but the guide book helped us make them more willing to learn,” said Liu. “And they can read the book any time they need, just like using a dictionary.”
The Silver Hair members have printed out 500 copies with their own money and handed them all out for free.
