Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答下列问题)

Now it was Jerry's turn. And Jerry would ride Wild Lady! I watched Jerry in the cute.

Jerry dropped down on the horse's back. He was ready to go. "Outside!" He called.

The gate of the cute opened. And then nothing. Wild Lady didn't move. What was the matter?

Suddenly Wild Lady jumped out like a tiger. She jumped—with all four feet off the ground. She was quick, still I could see Jerry's spurs(马刺). He had them in the right place.

Again Wild Lady jumped, kicking and turning. Then she began a quick turn. Now I knew why all the riders were afraid of her. Around and around she went. Again and again she dug her front legs into the ground and kicked up behind. Jerry's neck moved back each time the horse jumped.

Now Wild Lady was turning fast—so fast that Jerry looked like part of her. Once I saw Jerry bounce(弹起)up high, off to one side. "That's it!" I thought. But no! She was still riding.

I was trying to count off the seconds with my fingers. But I was lost in the watching. I dug my nails(指甲)into my hand until it hurt. Wild Lady jumped higher and higher.

Again the horse threw Jerry into the air. The people around me stood up. I couldn't see what was happening. But I heard, "Come on!" That was Jerry landing on the horse's back. Everybody was shouting. And they were still shouting when the bell rang. It was all over, Jerry had stayed on that horse for eight long seconds.

Now I had seen Jerry ride. I don' know how he felt while he was on that horse. But I know how I felt watching him. That eight seconds was a long time for Jerry. It was a long time for me too!

Thousands of runners tied their running shoes and poured out from the starting line while crowds cheered along the course (路线). Marathons (马拉松) in China are becoming popular again.

According to the Chinese Athletics Association (中国田径协会), a total of 133 marathons across the country have been registered (注册) for the first six months of 2023. On March 26, more than 300,000 runners took part in 26 marathon events around the country, reported China Daily.

Teenagers have also taken part in marathons. Xu Qian, a 15-year-old from Suqian, Jiangsu, loves running. He won first place in the 5-kilometer Happy Run of the Jingdong Suqian Marathon held on April 2.

For Xu, the race meant months of training and preparation. He ran about 30-40 kilometers in local sports centers each week ahead of the run.

“Unlike the 800-meter run at school which is more about speed, a marathon tests how much pressure a runner’s body and mind can stand,” he told Teens.

When he felt tired during the race, he told himself not to give up. “In long-distance (长距离的) running, the only person you have to compete against and beat is yourself,” Xu added.

Li Zhouzi from Chongqing took part in a 3-kilometer Kid Run of the Berlin Marathon in Germany in 2019 when he was 10. The support from the people cheering along the way really encouraged her.

“When things were hard, people from across the world cheered me on. Even if it was just the words, ‘keep it up’, it meant a lot to me and I was inspired to keep going to the end,” Li told Teens.

She thinks she can learn a lot from running a marathon. “Similarly, our life is also a marathon,” Li said.
