Mohamed, a college student coming from Egypt, often shares his experiences of learning Chinese culture on the     1    （社会的）media platform, Facebook.

Before he came to China, Mohamed     2    （总是）believed that all Chinese people could perform kungfu, jumping onto the top of houses and walking over walls. Like many people in his     3    （家乡）, he thought the country was not that developed and people usually travelled in green trains which moved slowly.

Soon after he got a chance to study China in 2019, he     4    （改变）his view and decided to show people what China really looks like. So far, Mohamed has posted more than     5    （五十）videos about China, including taking the high-speed railway, performing Chinese kungfu, and learning Xiangsheng. What’s more, Mohamed speaks Chinese in his videos, which are welcomed     6    （在……之间） his 20,000 followers.

It often takes a lot of time     7    （准备）these videos, but Mohamed feels proud to find that his videos have helped people learn more about Chinese culture and become much     8    （感兴趣的）in the country. The young Egyptian man said that he would continue to build more cultural     9    （桥梁）between China and Egypt when reporters asked him about his plan in the future.     10    （尽管）the goal may not be achieved easily, Mohamed will put in more efforts to play his part.

Pingfeng is a special kind of screen from China. It has a history     1     more than 2, 000 years. Pingfeng means     2     (protect) from wind. It was a helpful thing which dates from the Han Dynasty. There was a tradition. A young woman who was not yet married would     3     (silence) stand behind a Pingfeng to look at the man she might marry. Her father would discuss poems with the young man and ask him to create a new one. If the daughter and her father were     4     (satisfaction) with the young man’s poem and his look, she might allow     5     (take) him as a husband.

As time     6     (go) on, people make Pingfeng with nice pictures and writing on them. They draw things like dragons     7     it’s a symbol of power. The peacock, a beautiful bird, appears on them, too. Some famous writing can also be seen on Pingfeng. All the designs (设计) carry people’s best     8     (wish).

Pingfeng also makes a place look     9     (nice) than before. What’s more, if you want to have a quiet conversation, you can move a Pingfeng around. The reason     10     people choose it because it’s like having a mini-room that you can take with you wherever you go! Pingfeng is a part of China’s history and continues to be a popular tool for making space feel special.

Nowadays it is very     1     (危险的) in some foreign countries because of COVID-19. People there have been fighting against it since last     2     (二月). And it is especially     3     (困难的) for older people to stay away from the illness, because their sons and     4     (女儿) are busy with work, with nobody looking after them.

We Chinese are also trying our best to fight against it,     5     (甚至) the people in small cities like Wenzhou. To better protect ourselves, it’s time to     6     (记住) the following tips now:

* Go out less and do not go     7     (旅游) out of the city.

* Don’t eat too much salt or     8     (糖).

* Stay at home. Wash hands often and do more     9     (锻炼).

* Don’t go to     10     (地方) full of many people. If you do, wear masks.

In the western part of Fujian province, there are groups of traditional residential buildings (住宅建筑). They are     1     (main) built with a mixture of clay and sandy soil by the Hakka people of Fujian, so they have been considered     2     symbols of Hakka culture and are     3     (call) Hakka Earth Building.

Hakka Earth Building is famous for     4     (it) long history, unusual style and smart structure. These buildings are built on the flat place between mountains and hills. For most buildings, they     5     [feɪs] south with rivers on the left, roads on the right, ponds (池塘) in the     6     and hills at the back. This unique location has benefited a lot to people    7     (live) there.

The buildings are built for defensive purposes at the first place. Walls are as     8     [θɪk] as one to two meters, no windows in the first and second story. To prevent from fire accidents, there are water and sand leaking devices in the doors. People can run     9    from the underground back gate when danger comes. These buildings are really a     10     [ˈpɜːfɪkt] combination (结合) of beauty, art and practical function, presenting the wisdom of Hakka people.

Today, the earth buildings are one of Fujian Province’s top tourist attractions, and most of the residents are involved in tourism, instead of farming.
