China made new guidelines (准则) on April 12th in 2023 for face masks. People no longer have to wear masks when taking public transport. But people are advised to     1     face masks when they go to supermarkets, movie theaters, and other     2     with large gatherings.

During the Warring States Period (战国时期), there was a man from the State of Chu. One day, he took a boat to cross a river. When the boat reached the middle of the river, he slipped (滑落) his sword (剑)     1     accident. He quickly reached out to catch it, but it was too late and the sword had already     2     into the river. People on board told him to jump into the water and get it back at once. In 1839, he worked in Guangdong Province. However, he found something bad after he     3     in Guangdong. He noticed that people there liked     4     opium (鸦片). Smoking opium was     5     for them. They spent lots of money     6     it and became weak and ill.

Lin Zexu reported the case to the Qing government and asked the government to ban (禁止) the opium trade. Then he was     7     to carry out his plan. At first, it was difficult, but he didn’t     8     . It took him over a month to collect the opium from the foreign traders. He stopped people from selling opium. And 500 workers spent 22 days destroying the opium and throwing it into the sea outside of Humen Town.

In the Kingdom of Chu, there was a man named Yu Boya. He loved     1     from an early age and learned to play the qin from Cheng Lian, a famous musician.

More than one million college students are graduating this year in the United States. A     1     for the job market for new college graduates offers the best news in four years. Compared to last year, employers expect to hire 13% more new graduates.
