1 . A goal is something you want to reach.
First, decide what your goal is. For example, do you want to pass a test? Do you want to be a doctor? When you have decided on your goal , write it down on paper and look at it every day. Then decide what you must do to succeed.
Many people never reach their goal because they think it is impossible. But you must always believe that your goals are possible, don’t think, “This test is difficult. I’ll probably fail.” Instead (相反), think, “This test is difficult, but I’ve worked hard and I will pass it.”
Most people are successful at things they enjoy. So always try to enjoy your work. Keep looking at the goal you wrote on paper and think how happy you will be when you succeed. Think about that happiness while you are working and you will enjoy your work.

8 . If companies want to bring workers back into the office during the period of COVID-19, finding ways to keep social distance (距离) will be the key. An Israeli company thinks that using smart sensors (传感器) in offices will help keep social distance.
PointGrab develoned its technology before the pandemic (流行病). About the size of a smoke alarm (烟雾警报器), the sensor can record the exact number and location of people in buildings including office hotels and restaurants.
One of the company’s first customers was Deloitte, which used it last year, Doron Shachar, CEO of PointGrab, Says it has helped Deloitte put 30% more people in 3% less space.
Now, PointGrab is using the technology tor social isolation (隔离). The smart sensors can record the distance between people, and whether they’re moving in one direction around a building.
For example, a workspace manager can set, an alarm when two people are closer than two meters for more than 30 seconds.
Workers might not like being watched, but Shachar says the sensor, doesn’t violate people’s privacy (隐私). In fact, each employee (雇员) is shown as a dot (点).

9 . In science fiction movies, you might see cars that can drive by themselves—you tell them where you want to go, and they take you there as fast as possible. With 5G, cars like this may soon not be a dream.
Finland’s “robot buses” are a good example. The telecom company (电信公司) has fixed 5G transmitters (信号发射器) in 15 lampposts (路灯柱) along a 1-km road. These transmitters are able to control (控制) the buses, making them driverless.
There are also 5G roads. These roads would also have many 5G transmitters. They can help you in smart ways, such as telling you where the nearest gas station is. These roads could also be used to control traffic. Transport bodies will be able to manage (管理) a road network in real time. They control traffic lights through computers.
Public transportation (公共交通) can also benefit from 5G and smart technology. In the South Korean city Seoul, there is a smart management system (系统) in one of the city’s subway stations. It makes the station more convenient and safer (安全的).
And of course, there are driverless cars. These cars can send information to each other. They also “talk” to traffic lights and road sensors. 5G will make these cars drive more safely because they can talk with each other, as well as with traffic lights and road sensors.

Few students like homework, but it is an important part of middle school life in the UK.
The UK has these rules for homework: Grades 7 and 8 (ages 11 to 13): 45 to 90 minutes per day: Grade 9 (ages 14 to 15):1 to 2 hours a day.
Today, many homework tasks are done on a computer. For example, preparing reports, using the Internet or doing online tasks. So schools are usually open before and after normal hours. In this way, students without computers or the Internet at home can use the school’s facilities (设备).
Sometimes, students are given extended learning tasks. That means they need to do more research and analysis(分析). But however big a task is, teachers always give feedback(反馈 意见)to help students find the areas where they can improve.
Some schools send home diaries to students’ home. They advise parents to check on their children’s progress. Sadly, not every parent takes much interest. In a survey of 1, 000 students aged 11 to 18, over 10 percent said that they did not have space at home to do homework. Almost 15 percent said their families did not support them enough.
1. In the UK, which one of the following shouldn’t do homework for more than 90 minutes?A.A student of 12. | B.A girl of 14. | C.A boy of 15. | D.A child of 5. |
